Good to see Purito sitting near the front of the peloton.

Why? 95% he won't ride GC anyways which also would be insanely stupid this year.

It's a lot more encouraging to see him there than at the back of the peloton. Gives me hope his form is good enough to do something this Tour. Maybe he'll look for an early yellow jersey by not losing time.

Ah, got you. Forgot about tomorrow, my apologies. ;)

Being in the break on early flat stages is always futile, but that's not the point. One of those five is going to wear the KOM jersey tonight, and especially for Bora this would constitute a huge success.
I'm hoping one of the two Bora riders wins this stage so the papers can run the headline "Paul wins like a Voss".

I'm hoping Howes wins so we can say we saved the French from the Germans again. ;)

They are riding at 40 km p/h. Every average cyclist can ride near the front of the peloton at those moments ;) :p

Does someone have a decent english (or german) stream? Cyclinghub seems to be dead, and I didn't find anything usable on steephill.

Cyclinghub isn't streaming the TdF. They said that during dauphine iirc.

They are. They've just limited it to some sort of invitational system in order to not get shut down

Haven't heard any noise around Zakarin fro the Tour...how is his form
Surely you cannot rule him out at least for a stage win
He crashed out of the Giro in spectacular and scary fashion two days before the end while lying top 5 and hasn't raced since. Maybe he'll ride himself into form by week 3, but that's why nobody's making any noise around him - he was exhausted by the end of May and he's been injured.

Astana followed by Tinkoff nearing to the front of the pack.
Astana managed to split the peloton last year on the rolling terrain of stage 5. It came all together, though.
They might try to repeat the feat.
