That's an insane time from Dumoulin

It is a good one, as expected....the difference are going to be huge today for the wind.

Froome is not so aredinamic, but anyway I expect him to be about that time, I dont dare to say better.

Stage top 10 at the moment:

1. Dumolin 50'15''
2. Oliveira + 1'31''
3. Coppel + 1'35''
4. Dennis + 1'41''
5. Izagirre + 2'02''
6. Tony Martin + 2'05''
7. Cummings + 2'24''
8. Barta + 2'31''
9. Bodnar + 2'32''
10. Boasson Hagen + 2'34''

Frank Schleck on a TT bike really makes me laugh, cruising along on the base bars in the most unaerodynamic position possible

Some people already said it a couple of years ago: with his riding style, Tony will not last for 5 more years.

Why?

The knees. You can't produce the same power for a long period of time with such a heavy cadence. The riding style of someone like Dumoulin is more sustainable.

That sounds an awful lot like the sort of statement that isn't supported by any kind of objective evidence base whatsoever...

Big gaps between the top TT riders, i expect we will see something similar.

I expect Froome to catch yates.

We can make flexible phones of a few mm wide and we're still stuck with chunky communication boxes during an ITT?

Dumoulin almost has to be forced to talk about the ITT, says sports isn't important on a day like this.

wow, if froome is even close to tom d, tour will definitely be over.
I don't think he will. He won't be within a minute, and I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't manage to crack the top 4.

Even if it's not the exact reason, Tony's decrease in performance over the last two-three years is evident. Him targeting the classics is definitely a sympton of his declining TT ability. He's one of worst at placing himself on the cobbles, and when he's well placed it's game over after 200k. It was saddening to see him accelrate with Boonen, only to see him fade at that barrier.

Dumoulin says he is only afraid of Froome. Says he rode a very good time trial and is very happy with it.

Wuyts is curious to see how Kreuziger will do.

Why? Why so many people think he's a good time trialist? He's the most overrated TT'er ever!

Oh, I don't disagree with his performance decline. Especially in terms of results. There have been glimpses of his past dominance - his forcing on the front at Roubaix this year, for example. But this was a brief moment in comparison to his past TT domination, or his Vuelta solo raid, or his win in Mulhouse...

But I suspect the reason is due to a change in training focus (from TT/power training to classics-style racing, perhaps) or a drop in motivation or something similar. Rather than preferring 80rpm to 90rpm!

Had that Annecy TT the same amount of wind this TT has? Contador would also suffer more in these conditions comparing Dumoulin.
