I don't believe that Movistar believes Quintana enough to try something really risky.
He doesn't aim for the Tour win anymore, that's for sure, but he'll definitely attack to reach his goal, second place.

Seems like Maijka is in the top 1 percent of clever tacticians in cycling. Rights conservatively in GC, likely the dominant strategy, and aggressively to win stages. No ineffective crowd pleasing, just a singular and measured focus on meeting the objectives: High place in GC, stage victories/polka dot jersey.

Admirable rider, sadly not physically talented enough to realistically aim higher.

Don't a 100% agree ....it seems to me when he cannot ride GC he is at his best...not a tactical choice ...

He si more entertaining, prominant and effective riding for KOM and stages...if he were in the top 1% he would realise this all the time

Team DS also has a say in the matter. I dont agree that he is the most intelligent cyclist, far from it. Kwiatkowski is 10x smarter than him. But he is very entertaining when not restrained by team orders. It is good that Tinkoff's leader always fails in TdF so we can see the team go stage-hunting. Much more entertaining.

Wonder if we will see a GC-rider win a mountain top finish this year? Begin to doubt it, Sky saves their doms and other teams with GC-riders don't just seems to bother that much. Bit disappointing if it wouldn't happen.

Depends on who holds a stage victory higher than a podium spot.

Tries to get in the break on every mountain stage, collects bottles on the flat stages, full gas in the TT...

Can somebody give Stef Clement a contract before he kills himself?

Clement actually won at Finhaut on Stage 9 of the 2006 Tour de l'Avenir.

Why's Quintana there?

he was taking a natural break, but there was nobody to neutralize the stage so he was forced to chase back to peloton
He could take something to eat while near the car.

So basically they're trying to go as slow as an alpinist on foot?

Vroom may run up Mt. Blanc as a true champion... if nobody tells him that this Mt. Blanc stage has been shortened and ends in St. Gervais

12 minutes now. Stage gifted away to the breakaway. Again. Sucks.

Will the peloton with GC-riders catch the break? We won't even have this drama today...

Should we expect free climbers' pace?

Someone is going to try something ~30km out... I foresee a shake-up.

Froome goes alien mode in the last 5km to gain a minute over the other GC contenders.

well, record for Chamonix - Mt. Blanc roundtrip is 4 hrs 57 min (ascent 3 hrs 33 min) - Kilian Jornet 2013
