Astana is keeping the gap constant and the Peloton is still too big.
Expect a tempo increase at the base of second Forclaz.

It seems like they are riding as fast as they can without being too uncomfortable. Not a bad idea.

They're riding as fast as LLS and Grivko can go so those two get over this climb and can do the flat after.

No one cares about Sky anymore. The race is for second place. Race on!

Good point. It's not Sky they are racinf with but places 2-6.

Is this not still cycling? There are still 2 stages to go, ANYTHING could happen. And on this thread anything would not come as a shock.

If Froome cracks I'm sure the teams will make adjustments on the fly. Unless that happens there's no point in paying attention to him.

this Tour shows Vroom can crack only his frame

De Gendt +2 points after the KOM finish to polka dot leading Majka, still being -81 with max 101 total points left to collect through the rest of the Tour.

... So you're saying there's a chance ...
Nothing wrong with him trying. Majka can still crash himself out of the race.

Tell me about it ... I backed Majka to win about $5k early in the Tour at 10-1 for KOTM and now I wince every time he goes around a corner.

Astana would be better off hitting the hills harder than they are riding the flat, they'll only wear themselves out whilst everyone happily sits in.
Drill the hills and try and dispose of the numbers of others?

Astana is doing what should have been done earlier. The strategy is to put pressure on Sky on the flat and rolling part of the stages. Let Sky ride at 30 to 3 5kms in this section and it's no surprise Sky is strong in the mountains.
Hopefully they can put a lot more pressure on a little later on & other can do likewise.
If lucky then maybe it will thin Sky out a lot earlier than we've seen all tour.

Yep, Majka became a pretty decent descender barely a season ago, earlier he was much more TiboPino like. He also had a close call on st15 which probably cost him the stage when Pantano caught up with him and then easily outsprinted him. But barring some disaster I wouldn't advise going for any lifechanging bets against his KOM now.

Not really, Pantano was on track to catch him anyway.

I know Pantano virtually ziplined to Majka on that downhill but until that brush with the void from Majka the gap looked pretty steady to hold. As Majka isn't considered to carry the heaviest set of balls with him, he might have felt too warm in the belly and decided to turn it down a notch while Pantano was clearly superdetermined. Still, everything what-ifs.

Not a good sign for Astana's ambitions if Rosa is wanting them to go slower. Unless Rosa was passing on team instructions. I am baffled!
Perhaps he received instructions from his future employer
