I can understand Kreuziger riding for himself as a plan B. But majka, 18 minutes down, riding for 3rd place on the stage instead of helping Contador?
It was a 3rd cat climb. Reasonable amount of points on the line for the polka dot jersey.

Contador's done for the GC in this tour. Majka and Kreuziger are clearly pursuing their own goals now.

Some podium contenders will regret not attacking Contador. Missed opportunity.

I don't think so, he's obviously not recovering anywhere near quickly enough. He only has 2 days until another serious test and then the tough weekend stages. It does not look good for him, it's pretty much over.

I expected Contador lost time today. Let's see how much. So far glass half full for him. At least he didn't get drop some 20km. Payback time when he recovers to those podium who attacked him. We'll see.

Majka earned the status of number 2 at Tinkoff today and the right to really go all-in during Saturday's stage. If he's got the shape to duplicate his 2015 and 2014 Pyrenees stage wins this right to go for himself ain't exactly nothing when originally he was scheduled to help Contador and maybe was held back a bit as a relais station originally today!

Fuglsang, though ... Why he's even here? Thought he went training in the Dolomites and at South Tyrol prior to this race? Maybe he's saving himself to be Nibali's lieutenant in Saturday's break though.

Majka, what an idiot. Why didn't he drop back to help Contador? He accomplished nothing.

Why should he?

AC is an excellent rider, but now he loses 30 seconds on cat. 3. With real mountains coming in a few days... he will loose 10 minutes.

Majka doing what he does best: nothing
He got what he wanted from today - a load of mountain classification points. That's his goal now for the Tour.

He picked up a total of two points today.

I'm not an admirer of Majka, but the snarling about him is ridiculous. Contador crashed twice. He doesn't have it. It's not Majka's fault he doesn't have it. It's not Tinkov's fault he doesn't have it either.
Sorry but why the *** does he think finishing 3rd or 4th or 5th is more important than helping his leader? I mean even if Tinkoff have written Contador off Kreuziger was in that group too. This is just the same *** as last year when he finished 13th and Alberto crashed on the descent. I've defended him many times but I now see that I was wrong and he really just only cares about himself.

2 more than if he would have waited for Contador. And you could see how much he was struggling by the end anyway - the peloton were eating up ground on him. How exactly could he have helped Contador?

His team have clearly made the right call. Contador is done for the GC. He should stage hunt and save energy for the Vuelta from here on in.

He was absolutely cooked in that last km anyway. Wouldn't have been any use at all to Kreuziger.
