Nothing wrong with TJ's attack. If he is feeling good, surely he should try to distance his rivals. If it wasn't because of the looking around after Barguil went, TJ would probably have won the stage.

And everybody knows I'm no fan of TJ.

Precisely.

Agree, but then he should have closed Barguil down surely. He shouldnt let Baeguil ride away when Atapuma is in front, especially not when he is strong enough to push up the pace

The gaps between GC contenders could have been bigger. More than a couple of riders will be relieved the final kilometres weren't full gas.
Spilak looked pretty bad.

I'd have to watch it over again, but my initial reaction was that Tejay attacked right at the KOM line and then slowed down soon after. I assumed he was trying to mop up second place points to help atapuma, who had been chasing points all day

Never liked too much Teejay. Now even less.

Ugly riding style, dumb face, rides for BMC, scared of zika, overrated as **** and rides after teammate

What's there to like?

He's got a pregant women at home. If anything, he showed guts and brains to skip the freaking Olympics.

Yep why risk it, even if the chances are tiny the pregnancy comes first

Those final km's were pretty lame, altough a group with Thomas, Costa, Van Garderen and Kelderman would never ride together - for their personas, of course, because they totally should have. At least we've seen them attack except for Wilco. It was all telling of the pace how the crawling corpse of Andrew Talansky managed to come back and sneakily outsprint a couple of them to the line.

That depends on how well he was going/feeling. When you are in it to win the GC, closing down attacks just to protect your teammate's lead is a waste of energy. What should he do after someone counters him after he closes the gap to Barguil? Close that one down as well? It was all about getting as many seconds in GC as possible with the power he had.

That's what I assumed as well. He sat up and settled back down directly after.

Awesome win by Atapuma.
Also Lopez disappointed a bit but he lost time on the flatter parts,he will fly on Rettenbachferner, maybe even at Amden.
Spilak very disappointing though :(

Weird riding by Kelderman. Could have had the jersey when Latour was dropped and if he had ridden with Thomas and VGarderen. But then again LottoNl cannot defend a jersey. So this is better. Van Garderen and Costa looked the strongest to me.

Anyway weak riding by all favorites. All waiting until 4km to go. :(
That's what you get with these b riders.

So, now rides for BMC is a reason to dislike a rider? Bit hard to keep track of all those reasons  .
Never really understood why riding style would be a reason to dislike a rider either, unless of course his riding style involves purpossedly pushing rivals off bikes, and then it's not so much the style that's a problem, but the personality of said rider.

What exactly is next level? They are all different levels as it stands, and while Pinot and Barted are just lacking that extra bit to be among the absolute best, Warren and LaTour still need to go through much more. LaTour, especially.

Pretty sure it had more to do with Sky controllig things. Because when Kiryienka looked to be done Barguil was quick to attack, followed by Pantano. B riders can produce very nice races and stages. In fact, they become much more open.

Well, with 3 consecutive MTFs with the last one being by far the hardest I can kinda understand the fact that they want to save some energy for the next days.
The final 5 days of this edition of the TdS are brutal, 5 hard gc stages back to back is a bit over the top.

Small gaps between the GC guys. Still a very open affair. One thing is sure though, Špilak won't repeat his victory. He's been riding like this for the whole year. You can just see he's not able to fight with the best this year. After 3 very good seasons a down year for him. He had some illness problems in the training period apparently. Just a bad year. It happens.
