Vakoc obvious win is obvious ;)

I was going to say same thing, why Vakoc is even among riders which can win :D

Im telling you guys, he is going to surprise a lot of people...he has been in Australia for more than 3 weeks now and this is his chance for a breakthrough...I believe hes going to end up on the podium, mark my words :D

Most of the riders have been in Australia for at least two weeks now.

I see Nizzolo is still the King of Second Place.
He went a few seconds too early, Impey just dropped Ewan off onto Nizzolo's wheel and let him do the rest.
But still. Wins don't come easy for that guy. Just needs something extra and could do so well. :(

He has been a pro for 5 years now, maybe he is just one of those sprinters who don't win sprints and this is as good as it is going to get.

I think the problem for Nizzolo is a mixture of lack of a good leadout and bad race programs

Its a shame they don't use the alpine climbs in Victoria for this race, maybe Mt Baw Baw

It's a South Australian race largely funded by the SA government. Not a chance it'll go to Victoria unless Vic govt dumps funding for Cadel's race. Vic already has long running Sun Tour in any case. Logistically one of the things most liked about the TDU by those involved is the fact it's based in Adelaide for the week meaning no transfers.

Sometimes I also think people forget how big Australia is at times. Mt Baw Baw is about a 12 hour drive from Adelaide. Not that you were suggesting it travel there from Adelaide, but here are a couple of true size maps overlaying France onto south easterm Australia:

Plus I thought it was 6km not 12
The final 6kms average at about 11%, but it the first half gradually increases over about 6kms as well.

Since he was named as an Etixx leader, therefore, he was included in the poll.

While I don't think that he can win, I think that he can do well and he made it clear that he would like to take advantage of this rare opportunity as his team is loaded with talent and he won't have that many opportunities to ride for himself.

Yeah, Ewan confirmed that they had to borrow it off the women's team in the backstage pass :D

Awesome. Proving once again that the TdF is just a $hit small race. :p

Seriously though, does anyone even care about the TDU?

I saw the live link on the CN homepage, and came here to take a look at the race profile. But if the only thread designated to this race doesn't even include stage profiles, then maybe I'm not alone in my nonchalance and utter disinterest?

I'm interested because it's been a while since I've watched a bike race and because it's hard to get English commentary for cyclo cross and because it's hard to watch San Luis live.

I wouldnt be so negative

it´s the first WT race since october, all WT teams, many good riders, stage 3 and 5 will be fast and strongly fought.
I dont know how many cycling fans seems to be never happy. you cant have strade bianche or dolomites at every race. it´s summer downunder so we get a race there. with great public too.
and mind, not in the middle of sand dunes with 2 camels and 7 people waiting at the finish line...

That's not really setting the bar all that high though, is it? :D

I mean the race is followed by the public, not set up by some sheikh in the middle of nowhere.
90,000 people for the TDU criterium
