Cort is developing well at OBE and the team is happy with his progress.Definitely a Classics type rider in the future.
Is stage 5 hilly like last year ? ÌF SO can't beat Valgren for GC.

The 5th stage is never hilly but sometimes provides some good racing anyway. The finishing circuit is not very long and is ridden a lot of times (cant elementer the exact numbers) so Cort will have to win the stage and pick up some bonus seconds. Will be very hard to do, especially against the strongest team in the peloton.

Honestly, Mads didn't even have that bad of a day yesterday. Obviously he lost more time that he would have liked to, but last year he lost almost as much time in Vejle. He's just not fond of climbs with that high of a gradient. Throw him a 5-6% gradient over the course of 8-10 kilometers and he's superb though. As of right now he just isn't cut out for climbs like Kiddesvej.
But what a great ride on today's time trial. Cort was also absolutely incredible. I hadn't anticipated a time trial that good from him, but he's just developing really nicely and getting better in every aspect. Can't wait to see how he'll do in the Vuelta.

Whats also looking good from a red and white perspective is the fact that Denmark's 3 biggest talents is 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall. The field is pretty horrible, but nevertheless good to see the best prospects do well (well Valgren can hardly be considered a prospect, but still young).

In general, you are ofcourse right, that Mads is not a great climber and also not as punchy as Cort, Valgren, Marcato and all the other riders who did well on the slopes of Kiddesvej yesterday.
I guess I was just expecting him to limit his losses better than he did, since he had everything to fight for in the GC. In hindsight he would have been really close to winning the race if he had been better yesterday.Blaugrana92 said:

I compared Mads Würtz' speed to that of the TT in the Volta ao Algarve this year (similar length and terrain). It turns out he would have finished third there, behind Cancellara and Tony Martin. But ahead of these pretty good guys (Top 20):

The difference is that in Algarve none of these guys were at their peak, building form for their objectives later in the spring or in the GTs. On the other hand, Mads Würtz is certainly at the peak of his condition, going for his home tour in a Danish squad.

Lars Boom really working for it, increasing his popularity in Denmark. He and the others in the breakaway group were only caught by the peloton on the second last round on the circuit in Copenhagen. I'll upload soon.

Missed most of the racing, but I did manage to catch the finish of the first two stages, some sprint by Cort! :surprised: (and nice race by the nat-team.)
Would've liked to see the Vejle-stage, but I was - almost - literally sitting on the edge of a glacier.
(Too bad they couldn't put a stage around Ilulissat. It's technically still part of Denmark...)

Faroe Islands may be a little more realistic as part of the Tour of Denmark. But since not even Bornholm qualifies, it will not happen any time soon. Read more about the possible future terrain of the race here:
