A bit technical some of this route if I remember well these roads, at least with the TT-bike.

Should be interesting, but barring incident - Quintana will be close to Froome in this condition.

Contador to do an unprecedented Fuente attack in an ITT - further addons to his legend status. Will not work maybe but entertaining nevertheless. I hope they have several clock checks, I think that could have some entertainment value in itself.

Castro for the win, Contador to beat Froome, Quintana to lose 1 min max. to Froome, and Valverde might do a very good time trial... Oh and LuisLe should be very good tomorrow

Quintana to lose 47" to Froome.
actually, you're in the ballpark i just thought out ...under a minute or at the worst about a minute plus few secs...

the basis was the course profile (moderate yet some significant amount of climbing) and being relatively technical ( meaning the number of turns/speed reducers)

my other predictions:
- the winning time 45 min +/- 45 sec
- contador equaling froome or losing under 30 secs thus securing a 3d gc

Ideally, Froome is in red by 15-30 seconds or trails Quintana in GC by 15-20 seconds to make Saturday interesting.

Froome aint gaining 3 minutes on Quintana unless there's a tornado in Spain tomorrow

Agreed. Even if this was a one off TT and Froome was in peak form, he wouldn't gain 3 minutes. Quintana isn't a bad TTer, similar to Sastre for my money.

Hard to go past Castroviejo here, with Froome top 3. I agree with a lot of the calls re: De Gendt too. I'm also tipping a very solid ride from Damian Howson.

Or if Quintana has a mechanical. That would make Saturday's stage even more interesting with Contador doing a Schleck, Froome doing a Contador and Quintana doing a Cadel Evans train (TDF 2011).

But the most likely scenario is Quintana losing about a minute to Contador.

Contador and Froome should do well but Chaves and Quintana will probably drop a decent amount of time. For Froome it will depend on the fatigue factor but normally he would make big time here against the Colombians. Chaves to drop off the podium.

To be fair it's not exactly something new that you expect Contador to win ;)

Yes, you've said it before, and no doubt you'll say it again :D

I feel like the hope that us Contador fanboys (and girls) have has a little more substance to it now though. Maybe he is approaching monster flat ITT form? At least Sunday's stage may suggest so. So a 2:30 gain on Quintana and enough of a gain on Froome to move up to second on GC, and Saturday's stage becomes all the more exciting....

But what about Alberto in windy conditions? I remember where he rather struggled against Andy Schleck in the ITT in the 2010 Tour when it was super windy. Does he have any history to contradict this of having ridden well against the clock in fierce winds?

1. Castroviejo
2. Contador
3. Froome

I don't really understand the LL Sanchez hype to be honest.

Yeah I think it's wishful thinking from people here to think Froome will gain big chunks of time on Quintana here, you are right that he's a capable TT'r and is clearly in form and motivated so he just won't lose that much time unless he crashes or has a mechanical. Howson is be a good tip for a top 10 here as he looks like he's still got the legs but I wonder if the team will tell him to take it easy to save himself to help Chaves who will most likely need to attack to regain a podium spot after the TT.
My tip for the top 3
1.Castroviejo
2.Froome
3.Campenaerts

i expect Froome to win this with around 20-25 seconds on Castroviejo, 1 minute on Contador, 3 minutes on Chaves (should catch him)

This is no 2014 ITT Froome that got dropped on climbs by 10 people

Quintana is a mystery to me, he could win this or lose 3 minutes on Froome

I think you are really overestimating froome's ITT. I expect contador to lose clearly less than a minute and Quintana maybe 1.5 minutes but probably even less.

Froome to top 3.
Contador to lose a minute to Froome.
Quintana to lose around 2 mins.
There, I said it.
Castro FTW. If not, Froomes gonna take it.
