Quintana vs Tibopino for the overall. The way the Fermo stage is ridden will decide who will win.
Nibali will need a miracle to win the Giro with this crappy team. :(
There's no TTT in the Giro and he has some experience with miracles so all is fine. I would wait till the end of this race to assess how crappy they are.

Where's this Tejay hype coming from? For a rider who ALWAYS starts the year in good condition, his performance in Abu Dhabi was ****. Am I missing something?
He was ill in Abu Dhabi.

Well I guess he has a real excuse then for a change.

Re Gaviria, the bookies don't believe in him. 51,00 back for a win - count me in!
I will bet 5 euros on him. Sometimes, these guys don't have a clue about cycling

Dennis > TJ.

Anyways, its Pinot vs Quintana. It was already expected to beforehand, but at this point, I simply can't see anyone threatening them. Unless TJ or Dennis somehow pulls a miracle on Terminillo.

30 seconds isn't necessarily that much. The stage to Fermo is so well designed that it is possible to lose a minute quite easily. Terminillo shouldn't make gaps more than 45 seconds, as Nairo pulled out that much in 2015 and he was very strong that spring. Looking at Larciano, he isn't as strong this year.
what is Larciano?

I guess it depends on what we want to pick as reference TBH.

GP Industria & Artigianato Larciano, where Quintana finished 25 seconds behind Yates who may be a dark horse for this race. He also finished 7 seconds behind a large group with Pozzato and a few others but I don't know if he was dropped or sat up because I didn't watch the last few km. Nibali was a further 12" down

Edit: I am using it not because I thought he'd win or care, but because I was surprised he didn't finish in the main group. It is also the only recent yard stick we have. Likewise for Nibali.

Try watching Vuelta Valenciana, maybe you'll change your opinion ;)

Pinot will have to distance Yates in Terminillo (unlike two years ago), because he's likely to lost time in Fermo.

Yes, Fermo is not Tibopino-friendly, but after the murito, there are still 3 km to go...if Thibaut gets dropped, hopefully he can come back.

TJVG is in it, Yates has a shot, and they can't be underestimated. But as I see it, it's Quintana vs. Pinot.

So far, everything is going according to plan  .

Pretty much as I expected with minor surprises. I had BMC as the no.1 favourite but the gap to the 2nd place is bigger than I thought. I know FDJ has made a big step forward in TT but still didn't expect them to be s.t. with Movistar. Orica did a very good TTT as well. On the other side Trek and Bora pretty disappointing rides. And Sky off course, but I've heard they had a lot of problems and bad luck. This is just by looking at the results. I haven't watched the stage yet. And I agree it's shaping to be a Quintana vs. Pinot battle but I'm positive riders that have lost a lot of time will ride very aggressively. I'm looking at Nibali, Aru, Mollema, Špilak, Costa, Majka, Uran and even Dumoulin.

Quintanita vs Pinot

and WTF happened to SKY?

Three broken wheels for three different riders.

2 flat tires and one broken wheel no?

Thomas says 3 broken wheels

are you telling me that The Team with the largest budged in the sport, with the most cutting edge training methods & equipment, with the rigorous discipline & work ethic which worships close attention to the smallest details..... allowed their riders the usage of "defected wheels"?

G, you don't criticize Sir Wiggo and get away with it. Even from the end of a private road, he works his evil influence. :)

Very impressive, but over a month ago. He may still be as the that level relative to everyone else but who knows.

Looks like a good stage for GVA. Anyone know how long/steep the final "climb" is? Hard to see based on the profile.

Thanks, I somehow scrolled over that I guess. Yeah, I'd go for GVA if I was a betting man.

I dream to see smashing downhill of Sagan followed by a solo ride to his first WT win this year.
Unfortunately, it is still too much flat between.

This one is a power climb. All punchy riders are at Paris Nice at the moment. LOL.

GVA maybe. Uran, Costa, Dumoulin, Wellens as well.
