What a ****** race.

Yup. These last 4 worlds have been horrible.

But that's what you get with domestiques getting stronger and courses that are almost always the same year after year. Tighter races and mostly sprints. Next year might be different, let's hope.
It's also what you get when the WC are designed for sprinters who can climb a bit for three years in a row. The courses have been terrible - no serious chance for the Ardennes specialists - which is about half of the elite one day races and no chance at all for climbers.

No, no, no, no, nooo! Damn this result. Great race, really liked it. But in the end such an anticlimax

Sagan somehow transforms himself to cool headed wheel sucker at Worlds (not meant bad, that's what he should do on such course).
Should he be this cool headed during the season, he would win more.

Belgium did not deserve to win. They had a team to get rid of Peter when he was riding in the back.

The course brings memories of 2006 for me. A very good hill to make gaps but too far away from the finish.

The course was too easy but that doesn't excuse all the teams that chose to wait wait wait and save up cards and domestiques in case of wolf pack attack or meteor impact or whatever. You can't wait until the last 60 km to start making the race hard on an easy course and expect it to be anything but a bunch sprint. That Alaphilippe almost won shouldn't disguise the fact that France raced terribly, as did Belgium.

Objectively, this was a wheelsucker's win.
Like 90% of WCRR are won by wheelsuckers
That just isn't true though is it. Out of the last 10, only 4 have been won by someone who didn't attack once in the entire race. And very few to this proportion, where said rider (and his team) was completely hidden for 276.2km.
