With Lappartient saying he would change up the TTT or reject it in its current form, it's worth thinking about some of the teams that haven't entered this year. It seems to me that Vårgårda remains more important than the Worlds for TTTs among the women. There's no Wiggle-High5 even though they could have a pretty good sextet at least with Longo Borghini, Cordon-Ragot, Bronzini, Fahlin, Edmondson and any one of their others. No Orica, who could produce a strong TTT with Annemiek leading a core with Elvin, Roy, Garfoot, Spratt and Neylan. No WM3, who admittedly have had two Worlds TTT disasters in their Rabobank days and having lost a few of their best engines wouldn't be too much of a medal threat, but still Vos, Niewiadoma, Koster, Markus, Plichta, Tenniglo is a reasonable group. Presumably depth is Alé's concern as their main results have come from a fairly small core of riders, two of whom are sprinters. Cylance surely have a core of riders who could do a good TTT though, with Wild, Tetrick, Jasinska, Dani King, and then some selected from the remainder with Ratto, Gutiérrez, Doebel-Hickok, Barbieri and so on.

Boels to win this, then it's between Sunweb and Cervelo for 2nd place. Canyon regressed too much on the climb

Yup, they've got the advantage now over the hillier sections of the race and still have all 6 riders. I think they're home and dry now. The days of Lululemon (i.e. what's now Canyon-SRAM) laying low and laying waste to the TTT at the important times due to superior organization are over, now the all-star casts have got it together. Cervélo's recruitment and organization has obviously helped but they don't have the same depth as Boels. Now, Canyon could be a threat in the coming years given their history, but would need to keep a hold of Brennauer, Cecchini or both for that ideally.

I dig the graphics and showing a gap decrase/increase instead of a plain timer that stops on the finish and then the gap is shown.

Wow, Boels is actually losing to Sunweb now?

edit:

1 Sunweb
2 Boels
3 Cervelo

Didn't expect Sunweb to beat Boels. Hopefully the men of Sunweb copy this result

Amazing finish from Sunweb!!! I did not expect that!!! What a win. I was sure Boels were on their way to back-to-back(-to-back) triumph.

That said, hard to pick a weak link in a squad like they had. van Dijk is a TT queen, Brand is a powerhouse, Mackaij is a great rouleur, Stultiens has strong TT prowess and with her 'cross background is great at moving up and down paces, Kirchmann has won prologues at the Giro and has good punchy climbing skills (as do Brand and Stultiens) and Rivera has been awesome this season and being able to give short bursts of acceleration is a very useful trait for TTTs. Very impressed with their team. It's mighty close between Sunweb and Cervélo as to most improved team of 2017, probably Sunweb shade it thanks to Coryn, but it seems like the much-feared Boels domination that was feared by so many before the season began has been gladly wide of the mark, as we've had a much more competitive season than we might have expected as a result.

The climb was crucial. Sunweb turned it around there.

Must say I like the look of Sunweb

Oh... I thought you meant how they (the women) looked on the podium.
They were looking pretty good on that podium, okay?

Why did QS not select Trentin? He has monster form and is quite good on this sort of terrain.

Normally I don't really care about the TTT much and don't watch it but this line-up makes it very tempting to watch. A real clash of the titans.

Didn't even realise Lotto NL were taking a team that good, though I don't know van Hoecke but the other 5 are super strong.
