I'm starting to get a great dislike for Van Avermaet. What a selfish rider.
Has he ever been any different?

Chapeau for Terpstra, earned the victory. Was the strongest today.

Fun watching from 60 K out. GVA, Benoot, Sep, Naesen, ect seem fine for the coming classics. Terpstra just picked the right attack at the right time.

wtf were bmc doing, GvA clearly had enough for the sprint
I think they were very worried about Gilbert and Stybar and either wanted to catch Terpstra late enough that Gilbert couldn't properly counter. Or try to drop Stybar before a sprint.

But they just messed it up.

Great job by Quickstep. As a classics team they should know what they're doing.

GVA has always raced that way, as for what BMC was doing otherwise, who knows.

How on earth could they not catch Tersptra? What a failure, this is why I dislike sprinters.
Because ya boy Gilbert was there.

Are you implying sprinters made it to the fight for the win in a Flemish Classic?

I'm following a live ticker from work and to my understanding Matthews, Degenkolb, Demare and Roelandts were all there.

Perfectly played by Quickstep. I'm actually not surprised the group didn't catch him. If a chase group is so big there are always people who aren't satisfied with the situation and if there are riders not satisfied the group won't work together very well. This really isn't big news. For the same reason it was basically clear Terpstra would win Paris Roubaix only a fews seconds after his attack since the chase group was never gonna work together well.

That’s terribly wrong.

Of the ones you mentioned only Roelandts was there and BMC was also the only team with the numbers (except for quickstep who didn't chase for obvious reasons). At one point BMC tried to just let Küng chase Terpstra but he wasn't closing the gap so basically the whole group had to work together and that simply doesn't work most of the time.

It was mostly Kung, Benoot, Moscon and Vanmarcke doing the work.

Never understand why the chase gets that close and then disintegrates right before the catch.

no one wants to deliver the action too much which might him makes lose the race
