Do we know it's because of a crash?
I don't have Twitter, so I don't get all the secret updates.
Hmm, the others could just go and they really didn't. I dont hold Sky accountable for that, rather their whack opposition. The Barb said:Froome and Sky have frequently spouted the moral high ground about such things when their leader has had an issue (even a self inflicted one) but they were first to the front today. Utterly (and predictably) hypocritical.
He was the first on the rollers today, Matt White did the first 100k in the car yesterday. No underestimating this time.SafeBet said:Didn't Chaves have problems over Mendelpass in 2016?
That was also a fast start after a rest day.
I actually already thought this stage could get tricky for chaves yesterday because this first climb reminded me so much on the Mendelpass in 2016, so I wouldn't be that surprised of this wasn't caused by a crash.SafeBet said:Didn't Chaves have problems over Mendelpass in 2016?

If they had attacked on that 5% climb, then they wouldn't have gained much time on Froome, if any at all.
Could Yates do a Cancellara and try to bring about a period of neutralisation?

I'm really not buying all this 'great guy Chaves' stuff. When you're 2nd you make a show of support for the leader, even if everyone knows you don't mean it. He's got no history of working for team mates, but looks like there may be no excuses not to prove me wrong for the next couple of weeks now.
