Anyone know why Poels lost 40s yesterday?
Mechanical, then jury gave him another 10s for drafting behind the car.
Thats not right.

If he was doing it excessively in plain view of race officials then what do you expect?
Was Aru given a fine in the TdF? The Ventoux stage?
I dont know if he got a fine, but certainly no time penalty and he should have. He ignored the commissaire, and for a considerable time. The comm blew his whistle for the car to move on, and they ignored it. He continued to draft, took a bottle, drafted some more (not to mention the 'brake adjustment' that got the attention of the commissaire in the first place).
Similarly for Dumo.

You tell me...What should I expect?

Consistency. The application of rules should not depend on subjective terms such as "excessively". If drafting behind vehicles is not allowed (and it is not), then it should be penalised on each and every occasion it is observed. If race officials do not do that, then riders will do it by default (as they do now) and hope it will be ignored. When officials choose to ignore rule breaking, they tacitly sanction it, and the rule becomes impossible to able equitably.

With the classics and the exciting short stage races at the beginning of the season you almost forget how boring the GT stages can be. The peloton basically making rest days out of race days.

Wow the Middle East is a barren dump
Ever hiked parts of the Lebanon Mountain Trail, did some canyoning in Wadi Mujib, explored Wadi Rum or the coloured canyons around Dhahab, strolled around in Petra, Baalbek, Jerash or Byblos? "The" Middle East is not a barren dump, but the landscape today certainly is.

This is one of these weird situations where the leader of the peloton just has to ride a few meters further on the right side of the road and we'd have a legendary stage. Instead we have a boring one.

Edit: Not anymore, but a few minutes ago there clearly were strong crosswinds.

Yeah I was wondering why the hell you'd do that.

I mean even if it's just casual without actively trying to create echelons, you can at least make other teams do their own work

And when there are echelons the director thinks "nah, we rather show pictures of the desert"

Commentators from Eurosport are confused and calling out wrong names now

Echelons over anyway. Oh well, could have been fun
