Actually it makes no sense for Fuglsang to stay with Luis Leon if he's that bad. Luis Leon already has Fraile. Anyway, it seems like the Astana DS made the wrong call now...

Lulu is more than 3' ahead of Fuglsang in GC. He can strike tomorrow.

Lulu is more than 3' ahead of Fuglsang in GC. He can strike tomorrow.

Today would have been Fuglsang's best chance for a stage win, so they should have let him stay with the front group. Especially when Lulu was dropped this hard immediately after Kreuziger upped the pace. He's already lost more than a minute, so it was obvious he didn't have the legs. With Fraile already there, it didn't make sense to stop Fuglsang.

So Fuglsang ends up going on his own rather than protecting a leader that obviously was never coming back. Foolish from Astana.
