Hmm, Fuglsang could probably have won today. Must feel very bad for him, obviously had great legs and a superb stage for him. I think it was obvious that Fuglsang couldn't and shouldn't help LLS today.

Indredible work by Carapaz, the Bora guys also did well. Izagirre-brothers good as always.

Edit: Fuglsang said it was the DS call, LLS had Fraile all the way. Incredibly stupid IMO.

Strong ride from Yates. Tomorrow will be interesting with the Izagirre brothers and Wellens still close in the GC.

Astana looks silly now for ordering Fuglsang to wait. He must have caught a lot of riders after being allowed to go since he finished top-10. He just told Danish TV that he was a bit disappointed and thinks that he could have been there at the front.

Sanchez's GC went away too. And there's no way to know if Fuglsang couldn't have won the stage if he'd actually been at the front when the front started to happen, rather than having to play catch-up.

Ugh, I think thats very unfair. LLS was completely done and had Fraile who was going well, while Jacob obviously had great legs. Bad judgement call. You know me, Im not patriotic by any means and often find my self rooting against Danes in cycling due to the hype and all, but I think (in the moment and especially in hindsight) that it was a bad tactical decision.

Less point in double-babysitting a rider quickly becoming irrelevant for the GC. At least he showed that he is among the best in the race.

It shines out of him from interviews over the years. Always oh so great and strong, if it wasn't because he was held back by his team (and despite last year, almost always fails whenever he is given the chance). He is extremely self-entitled, and somehow always a victim of the circumstances.

For large part of the Giro in 2016 he even wanted to do his own race, not willing to sacrifice himself 100% for Nibali. Ridiculous.

That I can agree with and it was ridiculous how much hype he got from the Danish media and commentators, the thing about 2016 Giro. He obviously didn't have the level when they actually hit real climbs

On the other points, I mean, do you seriously believe that? Do you actually believe he is happy that he was ordered down to pull for LLS so any pressure for a stage win would disappear and he could tell the media what transpired and that was why he couldn't contest the win? Seriously...? He might as well just stop riding then, wtf.

Obviously, he would prefer to be completely free from team obligations, it just fits extremely well with his own narrative, which he had to reinforce and as such couldn't stay with Lulu until the end. Simply had to prove how much he sacrificed.

From what I understand, it wasn't even that Lulu told him to go because he was done, it was Fuglsang who had enough and just left him, even when the train had already left the station.

Yates can hold onto yellow if he is good enough in the final stage - MS have a strong team at PN - Hats off to Kreuziger for his form so far in 2018 after a disappointing 2017.

What I hate even more, though, is the notion that you have to be a patriot if you support an athlete from your own country in the first place. Is it really that unimaginable you'd like the athlete if he was from a different country? How dare anyone think that they can tell my reasons for sympathizing with a specific athlete or any person for that matter? I can't stand such assumptions
