It's a very good situation for Italy and they aren't taking any pulls in the peloton as they shouldn't be doing.

It's not on him to make the race. It's a bad decision to waste energy. The peloton isn't coming back and if he doesn't work, the dutch and italians still will because they have 2 each in the move.

In other words, for the same reason that Perichon isn't working and nobody in the group is even thinking of telling him to.
