VDP looks very good for De Ronde, no question about it. A stronger team could be useful in such a race, though.

I'm just glad that the smaller non-WT teams get a big win sometimes as well.

Jungels working for Mathieu

Yeah, I dont understand Jungels tactics really in this race. He should have let MVDP do a lot more work. Especially in the end.

why also did they drive the pace for so long without any attacks? all the way to 1-2km left.

the rest in the group gifted this to MVDP

He did the most of the work actually, he didn't skipped one single turn, and everybody else did, including Jungels. Someone like Jungels who is strongest or among the strongest in the group can't just stop working, others would force him to work, or the group would be doomed. You just ride hard when you're in front, you skip couple of turns if there is a faster guy in the group, you try to attack couple of times, and if that doesn't work, you just pray the fast guy is more tired than you, so you could somehow beat him in the sprint, stranger things happened, Alaphilippe beat Sagan and Trentin recently. And that's exactly what Jungels did, but Van Der Poel was flawless today.

What the hell was Jungels doing, even bringing back Benoot at the end

Gilbert apparently pulled out because he's sick.

Hilarious. The guy got 4th in GW sprint after attacking all day and getting blocked in the sprint twice.

Then wins Dwars after attacking from 60km out.
And people still doubt him for RVV..
How?

I just do not understand. You must either dislike him or not see what's going on here

Might be a touch of Flemish sarcasm...

While I'm completely with you, I understand that people are a bit cautious about him for de Ronde. It's harder than both G-W and Dwars, while being pretty long. It's just another step required to battle it with Greg on Kwaremont and Paterberg at the end of de Ronde. I'm pretty confident he'll be there but he never raced that race and people will always be cautious about the potential of riders in races they haven't done yet. Especially these hard Monuments.

They did gifted it to him. He was hardly tested at all. Jungels chased down Benoots attack in the end. Then he kept pulling the group afterwards. Cmon.

I also dont consider mvdp as a favourite this sunday. He will be up there, but I dont see him winning. In future I can see it happening yes!

Ofc he's not the top favorite to win. Others have already proven they were stronger in a harder race.

But to say he did nothing is the other end of the spectrum. He will be up there. To win he'd need to get lucky with headwind in the final or something. Because usually flanders ends in a solo and I see only stronger riders doing that.

Should he have let him go? He hardly put in an effort to close him. He heard him before he even passed by and caught him easily.

Not sure why he let himself sit on the front, but someone is always in that position.

In the current peloton I only really see Jungels or Van Aert capable of pulling off a decent solo.
