As crazy as it sounds, but this might be it. After today does anyone see Nibali or Roglic drop Carapaz? I surely don't. Carapaz only needs a few more seconds of buffer before the final TT and I'm pretty confident he will get those. It's obviously all far from over but I'd say Carapaz now is the clear favorite.
Can you blieve that? After all the big names entering the giro it could be freakin Richard Carapaz winning it.

Well that's just it. Carapaz still has to go out and get time from Roglic. But at the same time, Movistar have a jersey to defend. Having Landa there is a big advantage for them, but they have a lot of work to do the next few days.

wonder who Nibali will be pissed off with now!

actually nobody. He just said to RAI he was happy Roglic helped today. He was also grateful to Caruso for his amazing job and said there are many contenders. A 30 seconds fresh reaction

He was probably happy that Roglic lost the jersey, not that Roglic helped in the chase. Nibali is a cry baby who was DQ'd for blatantly cheating by getting a tow from his team car at the Vuelta 4 years ago. Class act.

totally irrelevant for this race.
I've just reported what Nibali said.
It's your choice to derive from these words what pleases you most based on your biases and sympathies....

It's relevant to his character.

yeah poor Landa
The only way he can shake the hierarchy now is by voodooing Carapaz. Unzue and Movistar are living day by day at this point.

I guess Landa will ride domestique now and will be 3rd ...and then there will be more free Landa on here !!

He will need to attack and force Nibali and Roglic to work

Strong win for Carapaz. Nice sprint by Nibali.......those four seconds will make a huge difference. Roglic will be relieved not to be in pink. Movistar looking strong and unusually for them their tactics have been good. Strange that Roglic and Nibali lost so much time on the descent. Lopez doesn't seem to be in Vuelta form. Zakarin and Mollema as usual. Majka is fighting hard. Nice comeback by Yates. The last two stages have brought the race to life. Looking very interesting going into the final week Sivakov is also doing very well for a young rider.

Or maybe Landa and Carapaz will just continue like a tandem. Seems to be working pretty good. Rest of the team has looked good too.

The most surprising thing of this Giro is how tactically sound Unzue has been thus far. I hope he doesn't mess up in the next few days having Landa work for Carapaz. They have a chance of going 1-2 in GC keeping up the aggressive racing.

Roglic made a sensible decision in letting the jersey go.
Nibali was again tactically poor. There was no reason to have Caruso work on the false flat.

Why not? Nibali wasn’t feeling it clearly. I don’t think much of what Roglic did was tactics either, he just wasn’t good enough.

Very smart racing by Roglic today.
In general a fairly good stage to watch.
The thing I don’t get is that according to ESPN Latin America, Roglic got directly to the podium to get his pink jersey, wasn’t he aware he lost the chance? Has someone else confirm this?

Wake up people, Roglic (and the others) just weren't strong enough to stay with Carapaz uphill, end of the story.
Still, the Giro is very long and hard, anything can still happen.

Wiggo and Adam Blythe on ES giving Jumbo DS a very hard time for his negative comments on Roglic today
I think they are being very over-sensitive. Engels said nothing very negative. He just said he had mixed feelings about not getting pink and that's obvious. It's a plus, they don't have the pressure. It's a negative that Carapaz looks like the best climber in the race

The only good thing about the Dutch broadcast is when Karsten Kroon starts talking about llama's

That is hilarious if true. Might explain some things.

So here what we know

Not a threat for the win
Majka, Mollema, Zakarin or Yates

Best Climbers in order
Carapaz
Landa
Nibali (yes)

Best TTers in order
Roglic
Nibali
Mollema

Not a bad assessment, but I’d have Roglic joint with Nibali, they’ve been glued to each other for the past 2 days and you can’t possibly split them on what they’ve shown.

Maybe noone told him Carapaz was off the front and he forgot. :)

Well in any case if Carapaz manages to win this, they basically gifted him almost 2 minutes, and on the flat and slightly uphill where a group of riders have a huge advantage. Even the struggling Yates went past everyone. It's like no one wants to win this Giro. Very strange riding from Nibali, Roglic, MAL and Majka, Landa was never going to chase obviously.
