Well deserved win for Carapaz, I really hope he will beat Roglic. The other GC contenders underestimated him, so arrogant.

Wow, brilliant Carapaz.
Very good ride by Yates too, if he recovers on the final week he can get podium (even though he is still way behind)

They didn't underestimate him, he was just the strongest.
Sprinter Nibali is back btw.

I'm honnestly hating Roglic behavior atm. He's not even sprinting, not even pulling. Is he so much confident or was he on the limit?

Roglic didn't even sprint for 3rd.

He couldn't do ***.

Think Nibali was average and Roglic just really weak and hit it really well. No chance in hell Roglic lets this happen unless he's afraid to get dropped on the way to Courmayeur

What a performance. Really really really didn't expect that Roglic would lose the "lead" (although of course he wasn't actually leading for quite some time) so early without actually cracking. Remember when a few days ago people claimed the race was over?

BS. They were 30 seconds behind bottom of the descent. Then instead of working together, they all start a staring match. Pathetic. I hope Carapaz wins this Giro.

Or everybody over estimated how good of a climber he was after he outsprinted Rui Costa on two 6% climbs? This is totally in line with his history in hard stages. And considering his form through the whole year, I can’t see him improve a lot. Will be tough to stay second

I think he was just at his limit.
Carapaz was the strongest, nobody was able to follow his attack.
Whoever is in the Movistar teamcar, they need to send him to the Tour.

Nibali said that Roglic is very "solid" and he also said he appreciated Roglic attitude today because he helped much more than yesterday. Also said that the 4secs gained on the sprint are nothing.

This

But on a good point for Nibali he can stop trying to get Roglic to chase and concentrate on his own race

Those two statements are not mutually exclusive yet.

I wouldn't go that far. Clearly Roglic isn't the strongest climber -- that would be Carapaz right now -- but he didn't expend any extra energy today either. One thing about Roglic is that he can diesel his way back after being attacked, maybe not in the highest mountains tho.

Key question is whether Landa will act like a proper domestique. For Carapaz to take almost 2 minutes over the "favorites" show that he's really got a chance to win.

Yates had a nice finish, too bad he already had has really bad days. Likewise Dombrowski. Mollema, otoh...
