2019 Giro d'Italia, Stage-by-Stage Analysis

Page 8 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
According to local media the road is cleared until the pass from Valtellina and less than 2 kms on the other side, they had to reclear some parts multiple times due to fresh unstable snow sliding on the road but the big problem is still the descent surface, the organizers are thinking about narrowing the road and netralizing it with riders incolumned behind motos (flah of 2014 in my mind), and dangerous stalactites are present in the gallery.

Anyway for the local authorities is ok to ride, the decision to be made is only from Vegni based on if he thinks is too dangerous but also on the weather on Monday evening/night.

Probably no Gavia then... http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/gir...es-likely-to-end-hopes-of-climbing-the-gavia/

Vegni already said two times up the Mortirolo isn't likely, so I guess they can go east from Edolo to Aprica and then go to the Mortirolo and finish... Map here

Rumours say plan B is to climb Cevo before Aprica. We'll see soon I guess.
Cevo?
Anyway, if they seriously don't use any other climbs except Aprica instead of Gavia I would get genuinely mad. At least use Trivigno like in 2010. Seriously what excuse would they have for not trying to make the stage at least somewhat as comparably hard as with the Gavia?
