I think there might be more unused doms left than anticipated, due to the climbs being removed and the fairly tame nature of the racing so far. Also riders like Mohoric and Jungels, who have to go long, are out, which means we probably won't see anything happen till the last two laps.

Am increasingly pessimistic that this will end in a small bunch sprint

I will get more pessimistic if Ackermann drops because then a lot of pretty fast men will fancy their chances in a bunch finish.

It's a bit difficult to say, but many have quit the race already (Gilbert the most prominent name). We had an hour or an hour and a half without coverage (except cameras fixed some places along the circuit).

In modern times, Sallanches 1980: only 15 men finished the race.

Only 4 riders dropped last lap, and one of those was a puncture. Feels like Amstel, where the bunch will still be 50+ at the end, but most of those guys will have nothing left.

As of yet no one (of the, say, 20 riders who'd be expected to win) has even put in a single attack yet, and there's over 60km to go. This course has way too many places to attack for there to be a bunch sprint, I think.
