Ouch. Almeida on the offense.
If that should have been the case, that Evenepoel just had an off-day, I could even understand Almeida. He didn't get any help on his off-day... so if it was not a specific problem with the gravel (although it looked like one to me), it's quite tough to still support Evenepoel and giving up Almeida completely.
:anguished: I would have expected Quickstep to play it better.

I mean when Almeida had an off day, Remco was still in contention to win. When Remco did, Almeida was not. No way should you abandon the guy who can win for a guy who can top 10.

Not saying they should have have abandonded Remco, just that I can understand Almeida's feelings to a degree if it should have been a case of just bad legs, regardless of the gravel - because then there is no indication that Evenepoel will do better on coming stages, while Almeida might have taken some time back on many contenders (not Bernal) yesterday.
Not great by Almeida to say this in public at this point, though, and it looks like yesterday was indeed partly a rebellion from his side.
I am putting the most blame on DQS here, though. I always think that if there is very clear communication at every point these things don't happen like that - but of course that's just my chair perspective, I've never been a DS or team manager...

Yeah, why did they even put Almeida in this race when they must have known there are tensions? Should have let him do the Tour instead.
