Why do they call the final climb the Mortirolo of Lago di Garda when they have harder climbs actually looking at Lago di Garda

Looks like the speed is so high atm on the false flat downhill that it's really hard to actually get away.

True, I'm also afraid that from now on, this is the race for 2nd. It doesn't mean it's gonna be less interesting though.

Anyway, I don't think Ineos will allow Martinez go for himslef as he's the Bernal's only mountain domestique and they can't just leave him alone in the upcoming stages. Also after last stage, it may be really hard for Almeida to get into the successful breakaway, as it could be to much of a threat for the positions of other riders ahead of him (considering also the final TT, where he can gain a lot).
I agree, Almeida may be too dangerous now, though not necessarily because of the TT (yet) and it's wishful thinking regarding Martinez, I just want Ineos to ride a more tactical race and take the race to their opponents. Especially if Martinez would be the highest placed rider in the break, they could make other teams sweat while they sit back. We all know they won't do that though xD

Beware of the upcoming descent. The pace is relentless and there might very well be splits soon.

I hear this so much, it beggars beleif.
They have been the most successful stage race/grand tour team for a decade, so they clearly know exactly what they are doing.
And since most people hate them with a xenophobic zeal on here, why would you want them to be better?

Yeah, it's not like their success is more about their budget...
And I don't think the "hate" they get has anything to do with xenophobia.

Only two riders who may attack are Yates and Carthy

They are looking for more than the podium
I get that feeling as well, though Caruso may be bluffing a bit. In any case I doubt Bahrain will be pushing on today.

But should actually be great for the GC because both of then need to get minutes on both Bernal and Caruso, so they need to make this week really hard.

Because I am not most people ;) I am a fan but sometimes their tactics really frustrate me because they are stuck in their way of thinking. Especially in one day races. It makes sense here, they are thinking bigger picture, which is winning the Giro and not winning stages, so they only do as much work as they need, they are already in the driving seat, so if they can afford to give the break 10 minutes, they will. People praised them last year for how they rode the Giro and Brailsford promised more of that style of racing this year, except you don't have to have a Rohan Dennis break the peloton to set up an attack of your leader if you already have a 2:30 minute buffer over your nearest rival instead of trailing by 3 minutes. I am wandering off topic a bit but oh well

The Cat 3 might cause some weird ***, but I doubt it.
I meant that short descent they were just on. The peloton actually did split but it didn't look like any team had any interest in making it stick. After the cat 3 climb things are probably gonna calm down with the break settled.

If the break is close enough it's a place to bridge, and after that the descent isn't a great place to build a gap for the breakaway
