Bernal grew up at the altitude of 2650 meters ASL. Temperature there are on average 15 degrees lower than at low elevations. Average high there is just 18°C (similar all year long). Bernal is probably more accustomed to rain and humidity than to high temperatures.

Just 18oC ?

That is considered hot where I come from. Tomorrow will be 19oC and everyone is very excited

Crazy Eyegan

If I'm Larry Warbasse and I'm the only WT guy in there -bar the Bora neopro- I'm coughing and stretching and panting from the first climb like if this is my last audition for a summer blockbuster about the pandemic. Come on, Larry, Jake Gylenhaal ain't got nothing on you.

The Wanty Group/duo are also WT riders.

At least it seems that the GC guys will be battling it out for the win.

This time the breakaway has hardly any chance of survival. Looks like the peloton may even ride the penultimate climb rather aggressively.

Surprising that it is the Steppers and not BikeExchange or Ineos pulling the peloton.

Almeida must be feeling very well. Both for gaining a higher GC spot and a potential stage win?

You think who wants a stage win most?

Almeida said he doesn't care if he'll be 10th, 7th or 5th in GC.

Almeida could easily end up in 4th tbh. He's about 2:30 off 4th, is climbing better than the others ahead of him and has the TT. He'll gain that based on the form he had on Wednesday

It seems so, probably Almeida is feeling that he has the legs to go for the stage... let's see when they enter the final climb what's going to happen with all those GC guys. I have a feeling that today there are going to be gaps between them at the end

That's very cold for somewhere so close to the equator though.
Yep. Zipaquira is actually closer to 13°. Also, it rains twice as often as in London. Finally, this is the average temperature every single month of the year. Summer is the not so rainy season. But the temperature stays the same.

Martinez caught out apparently. I think Foss/Bennett might have been too but they got back on earlier.
