Yes, this is true, but if Bernal and Remco end up in the front group with Cavanga and Ganna and other GC guys are behind, those other guys could lose minutes on the stage. If likes of Vlasov, Carthy, Yates, Buchmann etc are distanced on the stage, their GC prospects could be over if the likes of Ineos and QS drill it.

Merckx was older than 25 when he won the Vuelta. Contador, Hinault and Gimondi all were 25 when they did, but turning 26 later that season (if my maths are correct).
