On the other hand if Bernal had been isolated before that descent yesterday - would he not have stayed with Caruso as long as possible, instead of getting dropped on the descent because he wanted to keep two guys of his team? He should be good enough as a descender. It made sense to keep not only Narvaez but also Martinez, because there could have been an attack from Yates, but as we now know Yates didn't have the legs to attack. So maybe Bernal would even have lost less, or maybe, just maybe, even no time to Caruso... I just think the "Ineos saved the day" for Bernal yesterday narrative isn't perfect.

It takes all the uncertainty out of the equation. Bernal didn't even have to defend himself this Giro.
