Interesting to see what a 60kg sprinter like Consonni, who is usually at his best after a hilly stage, can do on a stage like this. He should have the ability to not get dropped on this kind of climb.
That said, it looks like MVdP vs Ghirmay to me.
He has done very few such finishes. Only close comparison is stage 2 of Tirreno last year where he got beaten by Alaphilippe.What is the longest HTF that Van der Poel has won in his career?
didn't he do a similar longer climb in a break in Tirreno 2020? Although it was steeper I think. That was with Guerreiro and Fabbro in the break as wellHe has done very few such finishes. Only close comparison is stage 2 of Tirreno last year where he got beaten by Alaphilippe.
Also I dont thibk length is that inportant here. I think its clearly easier than Mur de Bretagne.

Its functionally a harder climb though. But it was from a breakIt was shorter, 1900m @ 7.2%.

Carapax at least 2 stars**** MVDP
*** Girmay, Valverde, Albanese
** Ewan, Ulissi, Vendrame
* Everyone else
It isn't. But uphill it's not as declined as on the flat. Still I don't think is steep enough for him.Valverde is overrated here, his sprint is not what it used to be.

Ewan has never won a finish as hard as this one. I think if it were 1km at 5 or 6% he'd have a shot, but this is too hard for too long, after I've checked his previous results.Ewan.
It's an easy single climb stage with no real hills before the HTF.
Normally, I'll agree. But remember there are no real hills before this climb.Ewan has never won a finish as hard as this one. I think if it were 1km at 5 or 6% he'd have a shot, but this is too hard for too long, after I've checked his previous results.
No real hills before also means the peloton will ride it faster. If we take Frascati in 2019 as the reference, that was 2km at 4.5%, it's just much shorter.Normally, I'll agree. But remember there are no real hills before this climb.
Gaviria might have a better shot than Ewan tbf.
