still hard to see how it will unfold. On paper a day for the break, but if teams like Bora, UAE or Trek decide to stay with their leaders (which I would think makes sense, given the huge risk of losing time on this course) there's not really too many strong contenders left. Yates, if he copes with the temperatures. Bouwman maybe. Rota. That's about it?

Expect Porte to be active for Carapaz. Looks like a good stage on paper. Surely some of the break riders will be more aggressive on this one. Not the easiest stage to control so once again it probably comes down to the final climb for the GC riders. Pity Bardet dropped out, he would have loved this stage.

I looked at the profiles again and I'm more optimistic now. Madallena is a little monster and the first time they do it is at 50km from the finish, which is a perfect distance.

Very narrow street, positioning will be key when there's still a rather large peloton.

Mini-LBL.

Best chance for Bala in this Giro but at 42 I'm not so sure.

Even Almeida and Bilbao are faster these days.

yeah, especially in the flat, he'd probably need to escape with Landa only to really win it. Tomorrow could be a better chance for him

I can't watch the vast parts of this stage and I struggle to decide if watching it tonight without spoilers or just watch the ending. I expect Carapaz to take pink. If UAE goes for a breakaway with their Italians Almeida should be vulnerable and Carapaz won't sleep on it.
