With 50 riders in the peloton, is Pogacar really to blame for the nonexistent chase? If anything, it's pathetic display from the rest of the field..
Im not blaming Pog here.

But the peloton makes me think Covid robbed Nibali of an elusive 11th place

UAE Tour, Tirreno, Lombardia among others all say otherwise.

Two of those are stage races and Lombardia is more far more suited to Pogacar than the other top classic guys. A race like this suits WVA, VDP and Pidcock a lot and I really don't see him breaking those guys like this.

Pogacar is great but this is a 50 men peleton that's treating him as if he's a Gazprom rider.
Surely DQS or Movistar guys can't be thaaat cooked to not organize a competent chase.

Rodriguez is no slouch either. You can't blame the peloton. Best rider is Pogacar by a mile, second best is Rodriguez.
We can blame the peloton. They just start the chase way too late. Also there are teams like Arkea, EF etc. With multiple guys there who are not contributing at all.

they make this race boring. Not Pogacar.
