Is it? I see Oomen only has 4 placings ahead of Rogla, so it will be difficult to engineer.

Okay, it's steeper than I first thought, but I still think a break will take the stage win.

Breakaway seems likely to me because Jumbo won't want to pace all race and because Roglic would be a favorite to take bonis, which should dissuade QS from riding for Alaphilippe as well.

Isn't the Jumbo M.O. to just wear the jersey for 20 stages ?
They dropped it to Taaramae and Nicholas Roche in prior wins.

I have a feeling the break doesn't win tomorrow, first punchy finish before any real climbing doesn't seem like a break win.

The only good thing about these stages is that I have Bennett in my Velogames team.

Not that it will matter in the end. I also have Froome and Masnada.

Merlier lost the pedal..
And watching in the US on Peacock those clowns Roll and Vande Velde rambled on about Merlier being "out of position" all through the overhead replay where we clearly saw him pull his foot out just as the sprint started. I guess actually watching the monitor is not a prerequisite for being a cycling commentator. :)

His foot was out of position, to be fair.

The Netherlands has been a success - the TT was good entertainment, and only a few riders got hurt. Thats best case scenario, because god knows these kinda stages dont really add anything to the race.

Valverde on the other hand kinda blasted the start, but the article I read seemed pretty poorly translated. Something with riding through the same town 7 times (?) and being dangerous.

Edit: Alright, read the article on CN now, and that seems a lot more serious than the Danish translation. "The route? The route? Hey, come on, don’t *** with me. Nope, I’m not doing to say anything because I’m going to get hot under the collar. Bien, that’s it.”

Guy is happy to finally go back to Spain.

They made constant note on Stage 3 that "JV is nowhere to be seen" when they were clearly in the top 30 riders at 6km and in no rush to show up front until 4-3 km, which they did. And then made no mention that occurred, either. Almost as pointless as Liggett's TdF commentary on "attacks" when someone heads for their feedbag.

Asked about what specifically troubled him and whether it was the organisation or the routes that were responsible, Valverde said, ”The route? The route? Hey, come on, don’t *** with me. Nope, I’m not doing to say anything because I’m going to get hot under the collar. Bien, that’s it.”

As the journalists persisted, Valverde continued by saying, “no, man, these kinds of circuits [routes] just can’t be. It’s as if we’ve gone through the same village seven times. I don’t think there were any more villages out there that we could have gone through.”

No lies detected.

Congratulations to Sam Bennett for winning the stage. When he is in good form then good luck to the competition. Congratulations to Edoardo Affini for taking the leaders jersey. The intensity of this race is just beyond. Each day the jersey switches shoulders.

All in all it was a proper sprint today. Enjoyable to watch.

Didn't expect Bennett to win 2 stages, but the sprinting field is not the best, I think.

Van Poppel is a beast this year though, really stepped up as a great lead-out man.

Doesn't sound like comments from a rider who could have just let the peloton go because he had no GC aspirations

True, but it does sound like comments from a rider who knows that his team needs to keep on scoring stage results and GC positions for points and regardless of whether he will be directly impacted seeing as he's retiring, he's been at that team for seventeen years and has a sense of loyalty and duty to help dig them out of that mire - especially as one crash taking out Mas, who hasn't covered himself with glory in that respect thus far this year, and suddenly he has the team's hopes on his shoulders yet again.
