To early.Cavagna gonna get SQS' best result in a race with cobbles this season
He had to dig deep in the final 50 metres of the final Moskesstraat to hang on, probably didn't have anything left.Okay turns out Healy really can't sprint. In that case, why not try an attack on that final climb.
AG2R is nowhere all season and then in Laigueglia and now Brabantse Pijl they destroy everyone. Like 30% of their points come from 2 races.
in fairness to Healy he was doing a lot (possibly too much?) work earlier to get that group clear
That was a cobbled climb, which probably favoured the bigger rider a bit more. But yeah, mostly it looked like he burned his matches a little too early. He had to dig deep in the final 50 metres of the final Moskesstraat to hang on, probably didn't have anything left.
There was nothing unfair about what he did. Great to see someone play the game after a lot of races (read: cobbled monuments) where everybody seems to be more concerned about not being accused of wheelsucking than trying to win.
Clearly not, as he got beaten by a rider with worse (or better, depending how you look at it) odds!I guess the bookies knew what they were talking about re: Healy.
So when should he have attacked? These are the kind of races that Godon is built for. He's not quite good enough to win a full on WT classic tho. Looks like Cosnefroy may have been the strongest in the whole race but either way a good result for Ag2r.
Once again, Cavagna attacks at the wrong time.
