Not going to lie, these rumours don't really excite me, it's almost like they haven't learnt the lessons from this year's mediocre route...

In other words, they have learned a lot from this years MAGNIFICENT AND FABOULUS exitement during the whole Giro for the deciding attack to happen on stage 20?

Listening the people on GCN you would of thought that.... The myth that just because a race is close means it's good. The 2012/22 Giro's were both very close, and they were both terrible.
This year's Tour surely has shown that a race can have large time gaps and be super exciting.

Finestre-Sestriere was in 2018. They had San Carlo-Courmayeur and Mortirolo-Ponte di Legno in 2019. Stelvio+ Torre in 2020 along with the canceled Agnello/Izoard monster stage.

To me it weirdly seems like they gave up after 2020.

Yeah, I don't understand it either. Some kind of fixation of Veghni and RCS. I don't think it's a coincidence that the latest two versions have focused much on medium long but steep MTFs. Like Sega di Ala, Alpe di Mera, Fedaia, Lavarone. It's a desired policy by RCS.

Because of Pogacar and Vingegaard, who won't show up for this Giro. But I guess we will see Roglic here. With his only competition being his own weakness of riding his bike.

Roglic in the Giro would be good. If guys like Hindley and Bernal would also enter in peak shape, we could be in for some really good racing.

The Cortina stage in 2021 would have been a proper tappone, but Vegni let the velon clowns (and some other teams) tell them that he needed to shorten the stage and since then it looks like he has given up...

That stage might have delivered Bardet a temporary podium spot he would have had to defend.

While Yates after losing precious time really would've been forced to earn his podium spot in contrary.

Yates would have been toast if that stage went down as planned, he would have lost a few more minutes at least.

I have also have a very hard time understanding this. Especially when some of the places that have had a MTF are virtually minuscule, while some big resorts and larger villages/smaller towns could easily be a stage finish for stages with excellent design.

while the news of Crans Montana were know since quite some time, that article actually states that it will be stage 12, not 13 as previous rumours indicated. This might make some sense, since it would put the flattish Cesano Maderno stage on a friday instead of saturday.
Local article today spoiled the Grande Partenza and much of first week.

They always have a mountain stage on the day before the rest day and while Fossombrone should feature a murito near the end if it's anything like the Tirreno stage in 2019, it doesn't qualify as one. If stage 9 is an actual mountain stage that would actually be a decent first week.
Sierre - Cesano Maderno sounds super lame, if you come from Switzerland you could have a Verbania stage with Alpe Colle (like in 2015).

Unless there are some really good hilly/medium mountain stages at least on stage 4 or 5 and stage 9 or 11, the rumoured two first weeks here are utterly underwhelming. Worst Giro route since 2004.

Yes, that's the thing with Crans Montana, I'd be fine with a rather boring MTF if they following stage was one that could deliver...
