Giro d'Italia 2023 Giro d'Italia, Stage 13: Borgofranco d’Ivrea – Crans Montana, 199 km (Friday, May 19th)

Jumbo Visma playing a dangerous game not trying to take time when they can, Roglic isn't known for his great end of GT time trials, wouldn't be comfortable against Thomas and Almeida here.

They did the same *** in 2020 thinking it was in the bag and it came back to bite them.
Look, for us cycling fans on the couch looking for an exciting race this is boring and frustrating, but for Roglic this is perfectly logical. There's still more than a week to go, more than a week to take time before the time trial. And he is virtually in pink, but he (and his team) doesn't have any of the hassle. I don't know what people are expecting.

In the defense of the GC guys this is the kind of climb that works at the end of a long hard stage but it was going to be hard to find gaps on a shortened stage unless something crazy happened on Croix de Coeur.

The medium stages have been arguably better in GTs recently for GC action so hopefully Sunday's mini-Lombardia has some fun
I predict a 100 km/h headwind for the whole stage.

Exactly…

And, it‘s a bike race, you will want to be better than the guys close to you.

Besides, Covid can end the GC race, also for Primoz. JV and Primoz should start to go for wins - otherwise, this Giro could end empty-handed for them.

@HansenAdam

I will speak out and defend the riders for the dry roads. First, we were told stage 10 we could not negotiate just before the start when the weather is most accurate. 20 guys went home in a 24-hour period. We were told we can not negotiate days in advance because the weather can change. So we did it the day before, and the prediction was much worse. We did it then because we had no alternative. We also agreed to stick to it.
