Maybe on a sunny day this could have been different. Segaert surprised in a positive way in such a long TT, Van Wilder should always finish ahead of Herregodts. Maybe if the race was in a different slot on the calendar.

I think even without the crash this course and these circumstances probably suited Van Aert more than Evenepoel. In the end Evenepoel lost time even when he seemed to be going full gas.

It's based on nothing. On a wet course, not only would Evenepoel not have crashed, but also Van Wilder (who said his power numbers were good) would have beaten him. This was a technical parcours, and it was wet on top of that. So knowing the parcours was a deciding factor. And this parcours was basically in Herregodts' back yard. Not to mention he got some nice draft overtaking Berckmoes on a long straight section into town.
