2023 Tour de France route rumors

Page 64 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
They might get lucky and get the best line up in history of cycling:

- Pogacar
- Vingegaard
- Roglic
- Remco
- Bernal
- WVA
- MVDP

As a bonus they might get Pinot, Bardet, Gaudu, Alaphilippe, The Yates, Carapaz, Hindley, TGBM, Uran, Landa, Mas, Froome and Quintana. LOL. Not to mention the Sprinters.
How is Contador looking these days? He could be an option

Yes small chance that nobody want to attack on stage 5 with tourmalet next day. Maybe the gc teams let break go for le maillot jaune.

On the other hand guys like pogacar, vinegaard, Landa might attack wehnever they get the chance. Stage 6 is only 145km and not so hard climbs apart from le tourmalet.
Stage 6 should be stage 5. Stage 5 should be stage 6, but something will happen anyways. Tourmalet before a easy climb, is perfect for a long range attack.

You forgot the man we'll all be watching - Pozzovivo (if he's fit)

I think a very interesting factor about those first two stages is that the yellow jersey will be up for graps. Even if the gc guys decide not to give it a go there will definitely be riders really eager escape on the final climbs.

Honestly it's just a really rare occurrence and nice change that the first stage (and the 2nd too for that matter) is neither a TT nor a sprint stage nor an uphill finish. In fact looking through some previous editions, every single stage 1 in this century has so far fallen into one of those 3 categories.

But it's literally an uphill finish though.

I think it's just gonna be 2 sprints for the bonus seconds with some guys coming back inbetween. And I wonder how many riders can come back inbetween. The descent isn't steep or technical

Stage 1 should be this climb
That's a nice steep climb to finish the stage and it's only 10 km to the finish from the top. I reckon Pog (if he's on form already after his recovery) would want to take bonus seconds already on Jonas on that stage. But even if he doesn't (unlikely given this is Pog we're talking about), there should be some action from the likes of MVDP and Loulou.

Why would MVDP attack, the finish is pitch perfect for him.

It is. Will be hurting...

For stage 17, it looks like they've constructed a new ramp onto the runway, so that will be a Peyragudes-style wall to end the stage. Quite like that off the back of Loze.
It looks like they have paved that small track after the tunnel. The airfield itself is some 500 meters at 19%.

Been of holidays so lost track of what happening

Is Remco riding the Tour ?

Great chance imo to go into yellow at San Seb ... think Pog maybe a bit more cautious after last year and save himself for the high mountains

Of course opening stages also suit Roglic but he maybe of Dom duty and saving himself also

Remco is not riding the Tour. He's riding Suisse, Belgian NCs, then training camp before Worlds.

Also, Roglic is pretty much confirmed not riding the Tour.
