If I have got that correct, then Queen Stagiare's score is 91.4% of the best possible, which I strongly suspect breaks any record comfortably (I noted Postman Hat's 83% as notably high in the Tour game). I haven't looked up highest total or winning margin records as EitB mentions above, but I would suggest that this is a statistic that might never be broken in these games. QS has 6 of these eight, but had Dainese and Osborne (110 points between them) in place of Poels and Cras (330 for the pair).

Linear optimization agrees with you, that is in fact the best team you could build. The best team of riders nobody picked would fall just shy of the 1000 points mark:

I've done it the last couple of years for the main game but all the credit goes to Skibby the bush kangaroo that set up the R program that does all the heavy lifting way back when the first CQ game was organised.
