2024 Giro d'Italia, Stage 1: Venaria Reale - Torino, 140 km (Saturday, May 4)

There is 2 ways Pogacar can afford this Giro:

1: To be main character every day and make history and a good remember on fans...so he can win 10 stages, pink, ciclamino, mopuntains.....even to be pink all the race, wich is really a handicap and no easy, and at le Tour we will see, ha can even crash or something and ypou have already won the Giro in al espectacular way.
2. To try to win with no big probpems, but saving ebergy thinking to le Tpour and just try to win the nesseary stages, but not thinking in that, If he win le Tour as well (I think this way is a good preparation for le Tour, maybe the best), is another way, more important, to make history.

Of course is Vingegarrd is not in the race or he is al 80 %, Pogacar is able to do both things, but no very likely.

It Poggi and the team chosse option 2, today is not a good day to win except rivals put him easy the victory. Maybe is better to make descent alone for security, but no sure....much to lose, little to gain in his case....for other riders ans tage at the Giro and wear pinbk would made sense to his career, but he can easy to do that stage 2.

If you were a DS in say Trek or Ineos or Quickstep what could you do today to get the win...is there anything ???

Ineos don't really have anyone because it doesn't suit Thomas/Arensman's characteristics, their best chance would be to attack with Foss, Ganna. Sheffield and Narvaez on the first or second climb and hope they can get some decent separation and a proper advantage before the last climb.

It's day 1 of a GC though, for teams with a decent puncheur, everyone is fresh and the last climb isn't long enough to get much separation on, they just need to make sure when he attacks that there is immediate co-operation, they should be having conversations on the road now with teams with riders likely to be there near the end and agreeing to pull him back in the 5k before the finish line.

See; Victor Lafay Stage 2 in the Tour
