Of the pairings of expensive picks, Roglic + Mas was by far the most popular: adding Dunbar or Tiberi was a good top-up.

While Roglstomps remain a thing, it will be difficult for DJW to be hauled in on MTF finishes.

Red points
A collective ouch is heard from the teams that picked Almeida. Roglic moved up in the green and polka classifications, but not (yet) in GC, which is how Landa got a bigger points boost than him today. Although 1st in GC gives 125 points more than second, and dspite O'Connor having one more day of red jersey bonus, Roglic outscores O'Connor by 3.

But it is Roglic that determines the top teams overall: all of the top ten have him (and the top 6 are those that combine him with Mas)

With the top 6 all having the same top two picks, it is the third man that makes all the difference (as Graham Greene would tell you): Tiberi is that mysterious figure for Evans, so he moves into the lead.

Red points
Not only the stage win for Yates, but also from nowhere to top of the KoM, and a 20 place GC jump. And he still doesn't get the biggest gain of the day.

At one stage during the race, with Roglic in virtual 6th, I tried an "as it stands" listing, but things were changing so quickly I couldn't post it. But even this much change around gives nobody real grounds to have any confidence in their position.

Not an awful lot more to report here: A few riders didn'r stay with the peloton, and Van Aert has overtaken everyone except Yates in the KoM

Stage 11 How is it touring a country if you do several loops around the same town, and end up where you started?

Green points
We are back to having riders that are picked in the top ten, thankfully.

Poole is the second most popular pick in the game, so not real surprise that three of the Dunbar teams have him. But topping that pair off with Izagirre was the winning move.

GC movement both from the break and in the late GC attacks, so more interesting than a typical breakaway stage (though not necessarily more than typical in this race)

Numbers look a bit off, I'll check them in the morning. I see where I had gone wrong: easy enough fix.
So, after a delay, yesterday saw a lot of changes in time gaps, but not so many in position, which is all this can reflect (hence a very good day for Roglic shows only negative points from breakaway riders passing him in the KoM classification):

With Taaramae moving from mid 30s to low 30s in GC as well as Woods's victory, a good day for those who keep a collection of old men (JVF also has both of them).

And that combination of older riders lifts JVF into the top ten. Vladimir's lead had been slightly eroded by those with Poole in the previous couple of stages, so him having a more relaxed day (half an hour down, and losing 13 GC places), combined with Gall and Gaudu overhauling Yates, increases the lead. Madrazo (also with Gaudu) moves up to second.

Stage 14 First cat mountain in last 20km does not preclude a bunch sprint.

Green points
It has been ridiculously easy to track green points this week.

Red points
Can I have an exemption from being expected to comment on the scores when there is patently so little to comment upon?

Highlight of the day: Tejada came third in the intermediate sprint, causing Bittner to fall one place in the green jersey classification, costing Anderis a top ten place.

Standings
Until today, Felix Gall has been one of the reasons that Vladimir has held other teams at a distance: his absence from the elite group today might not have hurt O'Connor too much, but it has greatly reduced the leader's margin, but not (yet?) his identity. Which sort of summarises the race over the last few stages. The highest change of places sees Amis Velo fall out of the top ten, mainly due to Carlos Rodriguez losing places: his place is taken by Anderis, the only other team to have Rodriguez, but his losses were mitigated by Gaudu.

Poole is an unexpected hero of this classification.

And better still today if you combine him with Vine, as 6 teams did. Two of them threw in Carapaz for good measure.

Only 5 non-scorers today

Standings
Everyone in this top ten scored today (Kazistuta didn't, so falls out of it), but leader DJW scored most. Again.

Red points
There are no CQ points for the white jersey, but the change of order between the contenders there (with not as young Gaudu also benefiting): Van Aert's catastrophe is the other main element here.

ZigZag has had a fairly torrid game so far, down among the teams chosen for novelty value. Second on the day might offer some consolation. Given that DJW only tops today's rankings because of Van Aert's DNF, I presume he will respond with the same stony face that Groves did on accepting the green jersey.

Standings
A change in the lead for the first time since stage 9. Madrazo, so often (and again here) King of the team popularity rankings, sits on this throne too. The points earned today by the two members of his team that did not (quite) make the Collective Wisdom team (Gaudu and Riccitello) more than account for the lead he now has.

The tiebreaker comes into play for 9th place: Landa has fewer points than Groves, therefore Kazistuta is deemed not to be as reliant on one big scorer and gets the nod.

Red points
Bittner catches up on the day's points gain, by overhauling noted sprinter Harold Tejada to get 2nd in the green jersey classification. Very little other movement: some riders losing time, Vlasov being the highest placed, so others moving up past them. And one relevant DNS.

Not much movement, but Laarsland is making full use of those bonuses for as long as O'Connor might keep getting them, to move into second.

Anderis, top scorer today (Poole, Gaudu and Rodriguez, but Bittner), is moving up a fair jump. The top two, with Poole, move a bit farther clear of Laarsland, who stays thereabouts for as long as O'Connor stays in red. Amis Velo is the highest of those who lost big through Landa, but had dropped out of the top ten some days ago anyway.

The current overall leader, and the manager who help that place for half the game, both take a 1-2-4 here

Teams with Mas and Carapaz will have to wait a little longer. Or perhaps forever.

I guess even Laarsland knew it would happen eventually. While 15 teams now realise that it didn't really improve their position much relative to those around them.

Standings

Madrazo was leader before he was top scorer today: more than 100 points is the margin now. The difference between him and TRiley is essentially Gaudu vs Dunbar.

Anderis preserves one foothold in the top ten for those that did not choose Roglic.

They say that we have already had the queen stage: in that case, we'll have to see what the empress stage tomorrow might change.
