It occurred to me when I was explaining the rules for putting replacements into a team (I think in the TdF edition) that it would be possible to apply those rules to a team that,for example, named 8 riders none of whom were taking part. So I listed such a team with minimal difference to each other in cost but as near to the budget as possible, And that group, the Default team, included Vacek.

When team similarity has been discussed, it has been pointed out that it is not really the number of shared riders that matters, more the importance of the shared riders. So you will find a team similarity based on the cost of shared riders. Sam6 and TRiley share more than 90% of their budgets, because they share 7 riders, the differences being Poole (for TRiley) vs Caruso (Sam)

Stage 2 Sprint in Portugal

I think we have a couple of new players, so the rest of you will have to bear with me while I explain again: this is the minor classification, based on stage points only. The CQ scale of points is the same for all stages, not weighted in favour of flat stages as in the race's green category. In some game editions, there have been sprinter heavy teams apparently targetting this, but not so much for this Vuelta. Stage points cannot be lost, even if the rider DNFs.

I had Max Poole on my shortlist and was coming up with combinations and had my team but with a rider slightly more expensive than Caruso instead so I was slightly over budget, then I decided I would get rid of him and looked for riders on the list close to my limit to replace him with and Caruso was the first name that I saw below my max that looked good. I forgot to look lower down and had I seen Max Poole again I think I would have picked him! I also didn't watch a lot of Burgos cause of the Olympics and didn't realise quite how phenomenal he had been in that! But never mind, hopefully, Caruso will win a stage.

That would have been so cool had we done that! I would have picked Casper Pedersen!
