The eight names in bold make up the collective Wisdom team: it is a bit overbudget at 3565, but gives us something to compare with.

Apologies to HiHope, whom I had initially left out of this table. Now corrected, but I really couldn't be bothered to re-enter the position for everyone placed below third, so add one to your placing there unless you are top three.

The default mechanism by which I filled out Josedin's team (cheapest stand-in is the most expensive whereby the shortage of riders can still be filled with more expensive riders: repeat as necessary), can be brought to it's logical conclusion, and end up with a team that would be prescribed if anyone sent in a team with no-one who is on the start-line. That is what the Default team is:
MOSCHETTI Matteo
LAMPERTI Luke
TARLING Joshua
BERNAL GOMEZ Egan Arley
YATES Simon
PLUIMERS Rick
PELLIZZARI Giulio
GODON Dorian

So my team is pretty similar to others but not as similar to it was with TRiley in Vuelta

Zijlaard looks like a good pick so good spot to those who picked him, I missed him off all my shortlists but looking at his profile now I think you 6 will be rewarded for noting those 2 results in Tirreno and Romandie last year more carefully than I did. Although having said that, he did lose 17 minutes today

Bad luck for those who picked Arensman but it might be that him losing time today wins you more long term, since he might win a couple of stages week 3 from the break rather than sliding to an anonymous 8th overall or similar

Expected Zijlaard, Caruso and Hindley to be a lot more common. The former can't climb for ***, but should be able to get a few top-5s before not surviving the Alps.

Conversely, Bernal as the third-most popular rider is crazy to me.

Bernal is cheap and has shown he has improved on last year, where he was 3rd in Catalunya. He could well be top 5.

I picked Hindley and Caruso, but didn't think they'd be automatic. Caruso is 37 and past his best. I can't see him winning a stage or finishing above about 8th overall. I picked him, as I suspect he will pick up points in bits and pieces, but was torn between him and Marco Frigo. I also picked Hindley, but he's so hit and miss that you don't know how strong he will be, and you don't know how much work he will be doing for Roglic. Last year in the Tour, Roglic dropped out, meaning Hindley could get into breaks and go for stages, and yet he still only ended up with only 140 points in the Tour, and he might well be similar this Giro. I picked them both, but they were similar prices and I would have picked Bernal over Hindley.

Zijlaard is probably a good pick, but he's too obscure to be picked widely. I had barely heard of him and totally missed him, but had I noticed him I think I would have picked him. I suspect he will be not too far off in the sprints and already showed he could beat the likes of Kooij in Tirreno, and he might get a few points tomorrow too. But, as you said, any small amount of climbing will stop him getting to the finish and he could plausibly be OTL as soon as Sunday

Sorry: no team similarity data this time, as I was halfway through doing it when I noticed an error in my table. I have fixed that now, but can't be bothered going back to redo all the ones I have already done (loads of copying and pasting, unless someone knows a fancy Excel trick). I did discover that our two teams with the most popular picks vary only in Tarling for DJW vs Rubio for Madrazo.

Leadbelly has both Carapaz and Conci, and therefore the first lead in our minor classification lead (Onizuka also has two of the top ten).

Probably not much to be read into it at this stage, but this is with points for GC, points and KoM standings included, plus 18 points for the pink jersey wearer.

Funny that the most influential factor in the leaderboard so far is Richard Carapaz bringing in points by finishing 7th on a sprinters stage! Just as I predicted when I picked him!
Indeed: top riders that were picked by their points yield at this stage:

Pedersen would be worth 665 at this point had anyone picked him. Popular picks Simon Yates and Ayuso are on 62 and 46 respectively.
To remind, or point out to those new to the game, stage points and pink jersey points are guaranteed to be kept (even if Pedersen were to DNF today, he will have 88 points (70 for stage win plus 18 pink jersey bonus); other points (GC, minor category standings) can be lost, so don't be surprised if Pedersen has a negative score for today, while still being one of the highest scoring.

The spreadsheet is here: I will update it at the same location, so unlike the season-long 'main' game, there is no archive of previous versions of the spreadsheet. I'd be happy to answer any questions if it makes no sense to you, or to take advice from anyone who knows Excel better than my trial and error solutions.

Team changes today
Amis Velo is the only manager to have selected both Roglic and Ayuso. Does he have the right back up to support so much of the budget going on just two riders.

Reactions: Blues in the bottle
Very encouraging start for us Roglic backers and Ayuso and Tiberi both underwhelming a bit only makes it better. Just had a look and I went in a different direction with my remaining budget than the other five Roglic teams, so at the very least I have a potential path to victory.

Mainly missing S. Yates. I considered changing my team just before the deadline and include him, but I decided to stick with Rubio. I expect a lot from both Yates and Rubio. It is a gamble, but if Yates disappoints, I have a chance to do very well in this game

Standings
The Roglic teams, however, remain up at the top. But today's result does mean that those teams will not be picking up 18 pick jersey points per day, for a few stages at least.

Overall points
That intermediate sprint meant that Del Toro moved above Ayuso in GC, with ensuing points changes; Kelderman was absent from the main group, lost 30 something GC places, so lots of riders gain a few points; Tarling and Tonelli fell in the (so called) ciclamino rankings. By the standards of a sprint stage, that's actually quite a lot of non-stage point variation.

Standings
The three podium teams hang on, and with Amis Velo losing those points due to Ayuso, Devil's Elbow expands his lead.

I have applied the tiebreaker to teams that would have been joint 7th: the principle is of least reliance on one rider, or, if you prefer, discount the rider providing most points as often as necessary to divide the teams. Evans has 375 points from Roglic, Madrazo's biggest contributor is Ayuso with 215, so Madrazo is credited with 7th place. If there is no difference between all the riders with more than 15 points, then the team with the highest placed rider outside the top 50 gets it. I guess if that was equal, I could count how many stages, or even km within a stage a rider remained in the race. And if the only difference between two teams rosters is two guys who went out in the same crash, or DNSed the same morning, then a draw has occurred. But I won't necessarily bother with applying it outside the top ten: if you really want to know whether tBlues in the Bottle or Kazistuta is the rightful holder of 23rd place, you can compare the teams for yourself.

Stage 5 is Pedersen's stage No 3

Stage points
The few riders that scored for us were probably not picked with a bunch sprint stage in mind.

Not big changes. Yellow Knight was top of the stage points, but Dani Martinez cost him that honour in the overall points on the day.

One day there will be some more significant movement in GC, and therefore in points here, but I'm not expecting it to be tomorrow.

Stage 6
Chaos into Naples

Stage points
Placings are neutralised for UCI and the ciclamino, but CQ gives stage points as usual (and I defer to CQ when there is controversy about scoring.

Overall
GC was neutralised, but the non-finishers (and non-starter) still of course lost their places and putative points, with others moving up. Although there were no sprint jersey points at the end, the early points cause some change there (and in the KoM)

Standings
Finally, everyone is off the mark. 1417 points had been scored in this classification in the first 6 stages: today Ayuso alone brought 1540 points to the board, and there were 2405 altogether. So previous standings count for little.

Amis Velo is the only manager to have picked both Roglic and Ayuso. The three teams so close behind him all have Ayuso, Tiberi and Simon Yates as their lead scorers. The second highest Roglic team is Evans is the Best in ninth.
