I'm happy for Danny. He was 4th, 3rd and 2nd before, and got relegated on this exact finish a few years ago. In my opinion he chose the leadout life a bit too soon, back in the day he was quite the prospect. This victory is probably the highlight of his career. Granted.

I hope Kooij will capture his jersey too in the future. It's bizarre how often RaboBelkinJumboVisma gets defeated in this championship.

Riders would still ride for or cooperate with other riders from their Pro Tour teams rather than a regional team they otherwise have no affiliation with, nor get a paycheck from.
