Is Vino really that associated with last km attacks? How about the new Tchmil?

Wow you guys are bad at analogies

Gilbert is the new Bettini, if anything. He has everything Bettini has, plus more, Gilbert can time trial too (Bettini could not really).

Nice results :) But is this the same Gilbert who complained about the lack of form before Het Volk as the result of Lotto's Qatar/Oman absence?

First he tricks the peloton into believing that he was out of shape, then he caught them all napping with a daring attack. Classic!

Unexpected result. Did Lotto plan that, or is Greipel getting shafted just a little bit by Gilbert's last minute change of schedule?

Having said that, teh tactic could work for the team, because those attacks don't always come off even for Gilbert, and if they don't Greipel doesn't need anyone to pull in the last km, he can just follow. Or something.

This is why Philippe Gilbert is awesome.

Every time a sprinter's stage is ruined, an angel gets its wings.

Pleased to see Ricardo Mestre in the break. I like and rate him. Very good mountain domestique, suppose he'll be the last man for Cardoso instead of second last for Blanco this year.

Rein Taraamae 12th? mmmmm maybe tried to follow Gilbert?
No, he didnt try to follow. Taaramae said in his blog that he had good legs and felt strong all day, saw when Gilbert attacked, but hesitated to follow. No he regrets.

I mean that Gilbert is the new Vino in the way that He rly times his attacks perfectly... When Gilbert attacks there is like 80 or 85% that his attack will be succesful... Dont know how ppl see Gilbert attack and dont follow him...

JJ was 48 seconds back, fourth group or so. Think he may have been held up by something; Hugo Sabido came in just before him but was given the time of the group at 12". Or he may have simply been dropped on the smallish uphill near the end. Robert Förster came in 2 minutes down, Breschel and Joaquin Sobrino were at 2'55", and Murilo Fischer at 5'07". All of those are people who could have thought about today's stage (though Breschel is coming off surgery and would have needed to do a Gilbert, for sure).

i am also in porto (feup, engenharia mecanica)
what are you studying?

------------

good that contador is back.

it's time to build for the giro and for the tour to show us something that will make us feel really proud and amazed about him. good luck pistolero!

----------------

cardoso for the win.
machado overall.

or maybe..
machado atacks in every stage and wins them besides the queen one, because he is too tired.

i am also in mechanical engineering but in ISEP.
i will try to do the last 2 years(the masters/mestrado integrado) in feup when i finish the first 3 here tho.

good to see gilbert teaching every1 else that attacking is the right way to go.

tho i doubt he will be able to keep his lead in malhão and in the itt.

about portuguese media. . . it an absolute piece of crap. you won't see news about cycling besides news from the tour. the news paper i read everyday will prolly have like 1 page about this race tomorrow but only cus of alberto.

anyway is there any footage of this?

Gilbert attacked with 1000m to go (Roelandts on his wheel let him go while leading out Greipel, good tactics), Ciolek attacked with 400m to go and Greipel won the sprint for 3rd place. It was
uphill.

Even without seeing the video, just reading about Gilbert winning with one of his spectacular trademark attacks makes me smile.
Right on Gilbert! Thank you.

That footage better show up soon:rolleyes:

Wow it seems Ciolek smashed the bunch sprint. Hope he can net himself a stage win, he needs it. Been in the wilderness for a while now.

Vintage Gilbert attack though and I'm very happy :)

He went with 400m to go so it wasn't exactly a sprint that got him that gap.

It's always nice to see a stage win like that. When a rider attacks at the final moment, ruining it for the sprinters
