Well, top 10 in GTs is what their whole team is based around. I haven't counted how many they had last year but I'm guessing they smashed all other teams in that regard. Sounds like my next stats project.

1 - Chris Horner, 10th, Tour de France.

They didn't do the Giro or Vuelta.

I meant to say GC not GT. They had loads to top 10s in GCs though not specifically GTs of course.

Maybe top 20 than 10.. Horner is a good rider but that was a flook coming 10th after getting away in a group and not chased down. Packing riders into the top 20-30 on gc seems like their blueprint.

Wow Westra! Almost beat The Tank there. Would've loved that, but it didn't...
No big surprises here really.

Westra beats Contador in a small tour and only misses the ITT win by 5 seconds...

Ok, what the **** is going on with Dutch riders this season.

Again, it is looking really good for Vacansoleil this season, from a solely sporting point of view. But overall, I think it will be possible for the Dutch to finally start with more riders at the world championships again

Not sure what is up with Dutch riders but seems like Westra can't find the stage.... The announcer keeps calling for him... Maybe in doping control?

No, I mean top 10 in GC in any type of stage race 2.1 and above.

I just did a count and Radioshack had 38 top 10 finishes in stage races last year. I haven't checked any other teams yet but my guess is that no team can get even close to that.

Anyway I reckon Cummings has done well, he won the toughest stage and 7'th overall.. Falling off yesterday couldnt of helped but the The Panzer-wagon was always going to crush everybody Libyan police style in this stage.

Really? I thought there was this big blow-up concerning the fact that there were less starting riders? I need to say I was not really following it all, but everywhere I saw this discussion about the sorry state of Dutch pro cycling

IIRC they got the required points in the very last race thanks to Leezer.

And after that they scored a sh** load of points in the other races and finished 6th or 7th in the World Tour...
So no real concern there

Cummings had a high finish at L-B-L last year. If he's going well he might get chances in the Ardennes. Gerrans has possibly been less impressive so far.

Sky has several options for the Ardennes and I think it will take more than this result to give him a leaders role in the ardennes. They'll know better when april comes around who is in good shape etc but at any rate Cummings will be there to at least help. Gerrans had an off year last year due to injuries and crashes etc and he has been top 10 in all the ardennes before and Löfkvist has also been top 10 in FW and add to that Rigoberto Uran and they have lots of strings to play if they're in good shape.

On the question of what is happening with dutch riders for Vacon this year, you could certainly construct an argument based around the company they now choose to keep in the other forum.

That's only if you haven't followed the natural progression of guys like Westra and Poels. The Beast of Frisia has always been a powerhouse on the flat time trial.

Meh.. Only because they got Mosquera and Ricco. Ricco was a big risk, but I wonder if Mosquera was a bit risk when they hired him?
Besides those 2 they haven't done anything wrong. They allready did well last year without these 2 riders and this year these 2 riders didn't bring any points as well.

Thomas De Gendt did great in the Algarve. He has been riding consistently strong this season. He took a second place in the second stage of the Tour Down Under behind Cameron Meyer and I think he could have easily won that stage if he didn't start sprinting that early.

I won't be surprised if he shows himself in the coming races in Flanders.

Perhaps, though from what I have seen he is liable to be someone who goes in one of those 200km breaks during the monuments.
