Yes a little bit, but considering that Contador will race the Giro and the Tour, it is not a pipe dream to foresee him starting the Route du Sud. About Voeckler and Pinot, it's almost done, and for Valverde the probability is quite high but it still depends on the Dauphiné.

Thanks for opening perfect OP.
As for the riders I think that at least 3/4 of those Saxo riders won't ride tho :)

Last year Valverde also didn't rode Dauphine, and only Route du Sud and NC's. Perhaps he thinks it's a better preparation for the Tour.

Giving an interview to Manuel Martinez from l'Equipe.fr, Alberto Contador has confirmed its participation to the Route du Sud ! And Nairo Quintana is also expected. Great news, we will have a great fight in the Pyrenees.

Valverde is doing the Dauphine so I dont think he will also ride this. If Quintana is here that would be nice though, but I would rather see him in Suisse especially in the stage towards Rettenbachgietscher.

Meh, I think it's obvious Valverde will win this if he starts

Port de Bales is a hard climb and I will make differences. 20-30s might be much more than enough to get alone

Nobody is getting 20-30s on Valverde at Port de Bales

true, many more probably  ... don't remember Nibali last year? Every MTF he put at least 60s ...Chamrousse, Risoul,Pla d'Adet, Hautacam

and we do not talk about Vuelta: La Farrapona, Ancares, at least 60s from (an injured ) Contador.
Valverde is a great rider but on long and steep clims he always paid, (so 20-30s are realist from one of the big four). And these are facts.

That same Port de Bales was ridden in last year's Tour, go rewatch that stage and then tell me what time Valverde lost to Nibali there, or to anybody.
That "injured" Contador won the Vuelta last year, injured man doesn't do that.

I expected this note:however, it's pretty simple: the day after there was MTF on Pla d'Adet so why Nibali should have strong attack? and in fact, Nibali gave other 1.59s.

ok on Alberto, he was healthy but the result was the same : more than 60s in two stages with hard and long climbs, as always

And I expected this too. Thing is when there is only one tough climb, such as Port de Bales, and no other hard climbs, Valverde is pretty undroppable, that's why I gave that statement that no one is going to drop him. Other reason why I said that is that I don't believe he will face some very tough competition in the Route du Sud. And one more thing, Contador never gained more than 60s on Valverde in last year's Vuelta, it was less than 60

Excatly the case of last year : before Bales, what were the hard climbs ? none , Portet d Aspet is only 2° category. At Route before Bales there are two first category climbs so things could change.

about Vuelta : what's the difference beetween 50s or 60s ? The gaps are too big.
This time 20-30s will be enough for a solo win( obvious i talk of one of big four, others are nothing)

After looking profile of stage 3 I came to conclusion that Pinot can't win this. But maybe he surprises me and is even better on descents than last year.
