The question is why did it explode? This could happen to Teddy for example and the Tour would be ruined for UAE. Amateur stuff!
It could happen to anyone. It's not the first time it's happened.

This happened to Pogacar last year at the Giro, on the Oropa stage.

If you look at the accident again, you can see the liquid escaping from the tire.

Damn if the crash was from his tire exploding that’s even worse. It reminds me of Contador’s bike breaking in his 2014 TdF crash.
Afaik, Contador crashed because of a pothole on the descent from Petit Ballon while he took a hand off his handlebars to eat.

If I remember well, this is indeed what happened to Tadej in the 2024 Giro: front tyre exploded with liquid coming out, he slowed but tried to take the right turn, went down and was almost run over by the UAE team car.

Front tire did not explode. He had punctured and was riding at low speed waiting for the car when the tire rolled off the rim at a corner.

So now @SHAD0W93 if the cause of the crash was the exploded tyre then it still means the crash literally had nothing to do with Almeida so I can still say he doesn't crash lol. I still think this was why he looked so confused, on top of hurting.

He needs to quit. In these sorts of situations I reckon there needs to be an independent medical team than makes a unilateral ruling to withdraw the rider - no matter what the rider or his team say.
I could see that for a head injury, where someone’s judgement could be temporarily impaired, but otherwise I feel strongly that we should err on the side of personal autonomy and self-determination.

Whose interests would be served by such an authoritarian approach? Why would we want to deny someone a chance to push through adversity and rise to a challenge?
