What a huge crash. Riders all over the place.

This was very bad. A lot of riders left on the ground.

Edit: Jens Debusschere wins stage 1 out of a small Peloton.

This is often one of the finest small stage races around. Mont Cassel is always fun, but the Le Portel stage looks great too.

I agree. With all the small climbs, it's impossible to control. I'm away at the weekend, but I'll try and catch the Le Portel stage on Friday

Here you can take a look at that nasty crash. Frederik Frison broke his pelvis, Stijn Vandenbergh has a severe concussion. Volderke is also out with bruised rips.

Canola looked really strong on the last cobble section, so was his team mate Filosi. Both seem in good shape and could be real challengers here. Gaudin lost 38 seconds yesterday, he will attack.

He never really got far ahead, but his power was just too much for the chasers.

A nice circuit, which gives different types of rider a chance.
