Seriously, Austria finally needs a successful rider again. The hype around Kohl in 2008 was really big and in the same year Rohregger won the Österreich Rundfahrt, but since it came out that Kohl doped cycling became so incredibly unimportant (which might be because Kohl said that there are no riders who can fight for race wins and don't dope) and I always have the feeling one single result could suddenly make the whole sport popular again.Mayomaniac said:Patrick Konrad finished 9th with the same time as the 4th rider, 14 seconds behind Landa.
He's a great talent (born in 1991, finished 3rd in the 2013 Tour de l'Avenir and 4th in the 2014 Österreich-Rundfahrt).
He turned pro in 2015 and seems to like the heat, he finished 10th on gc in the Tour of Oman and in Abu Dhabi, so he could aim for a Vuelta top 10 in 1-2 years.
In 2015 he also finished 5th in the Tour of Denmark (8th in the ITT) and 9th in the Tour de l'Ain, he's a great prospect.![]()
Never judge someone too soon. Sergey might still become the new Sella in the Dolomites!Mayomaniac said:classicomano said:Firsanov is the new Santambrogio. What an amazing talent.![]()

I have high hopes for both Konrad and Mühlberger, they are great prospects.Gigs_98 said:Seriously, Austria finally needs a successful rider again. Mühlberger and Konrad (+ maybe Felix Gall who was junior WC last year) are my big hope and if they will really be able to ride for a top 10 in a gt that would be great. Todays result from Konrad was definitely a good sign![]()
Just wait till the Giro when Ilnur joins the party.jens_attacks said:Firsanov vs landa
This stuff is good.

About Felix Gall,we're both from the Upper Puster Valley, so I almost have to cheer for him.![]()
Gall is more of a strongman for the classics, I hope he signs with the Etixx feeder team, that would be great for him.
Simone Andreetta's 6th place is also a pleasant surprise. Hugh Carthy lost some time, but he's not really explosive and he prefers longer climbs and still finisheed 11th.
Zoidl is a very good rider, but he's probably too old to be called a prospect. He was pretty strong in the 2014 Tor de Romandie and durning the 3rd week of the Giro, he could be a great climbing domestique or a stagehunter in a GT. Preidler is a good rider, Pöstlberger would be another interesting prospect.TMP402 said:Mayomaniac said:I have high hopes for both Konrad and Mühlberger, they are great prospects.Gigs_98 said:Seriously, Austria finally needs a successful rider again. No comments on Riccardo Zoidl or Georg Preidler?
Zoidl is too old already. He is a decent rider but for 28 years he wasnt successful enough to say that he will have a great future.TMP402 said:Mayomaniac said:I have high hopes for both Konrad and Mühlberger, they are great prospects.Gigs_98 said:Seriously, Austria finally needs a successful rider again. Nothing special. It shouldn't be a factor, unless the spirit of Savoldelli spawns into the peloton.Gigs_98 said:To come back to topic, does anyone know how the descent of tomorrows stage will be?

I expect nothing less than an Ivailo Grabovski style nuclear attack.jens_attacks said:Firsanov to unleash hell today.
