No not at all. I just think it would have been a walk in the park for someone like Cunego as well  who, bye the way, beat an abundance of Androni riders with ease in Appenino. Equally as impressive, I'd say.

Still won't put him together with Gilbert, because Gilbert has simply shown more over the past 2 years than Cunego ever did.

....and if that happens he will be professional as always and won't whinge and cry unlike a certain swiss miss;)

Didnt Gilbert cry that Pozzato was on his wheel:rolleyes:

The Belgian population on these boards is still in uproar over it.

You guys have an ancient barbarian mentality. Charge right in and be inevitably slaughtered by the superior foe, so that you can be buried with your sword and your silly notions of an "honorable fight".

Does anyone know what happened to that guy who crashed fairly early in the race and was taken away to the hospital? The way he was lying in the footage they showed on Danish tv sort of indicated a broken collarbone. It looked really bad!

Yeah... I'm such a girl, being worried for some random person...

I agree with D-T. The kind of riders who can beat Gilbert will beat him by riding and will want to win that way, rather than the more negative (but clearly effective overall) tactics against Cancellara the last two weekends.

The other differencees between the tactics of the two kinds of classics is those that know they can compete. There is a big difference between thinking you can win, and knowing you can win. Those that know they can win usually will work because they have confidence in past experience to know they can win. In the cobbled classics in the previous 6 years (2005) , you have only had 5 different winners (Boonen, Cancellara and O-Grady for PR, Boonen, Cancellara, Ballan, Devolder for ToF).

The Ardennes since 2005 you have had 12 different winners. So more riders have had the taste of victory there.

It's not bad - it makes it that much easier for us civilized southerners!

Spain is so easy to troll with this kind of stuff :p

I think Ben Hermans could do well in this race.

Agree fully with that. He's strong on the flats and good up steep hills. However he might not be explosive enough.
